Hot Fallover
Hello List: Recently our shorewall FW server went dead (PS failure) & brought the entire system down. Luckily we are testing the FW and other servers, so we did not loose anything. Now we have decided to setup two Shorewall FW servers with a primary & another fallover FW server. I have done some research cruised the Internet and found that a product ''UCARP'' (http://www.ucarp.org/) might provide a solution. Our current setup is (same as on Shorewall web site) as follows: T1 ----...

[Possible bug] Invalid Switching on fallover?
I may have found a bug... I am not sure. I am new to Icecast, so this might be how things are meant to be, I have a Debian install with Icecast2 install from APT - Icecast 2.3.2 I have three mount points (all 128kbp mp3) /EDH.mp3 (public = 0 and hidden = 1) /live.mp3 (fallback-mount = /EDH.mp3 and fallback-override = 1) /dj1.mp3 (fallback-mount = /EDH.mp3, fallback-override = 1, public = 0, and\

Shorewall under xen
...he details figured out but this is roughly what I''m thinking of: Set up separate vlan for the two isps and plug isps into the switch. Run into xen servers on tagged vlans and set up separate bridges for each. Each shorewall domu would see 3 interfaces. Then have 2 shorewall domus with fallover on separate xen servers. I''m uncertain of the details for fallover. I''m pretty confident it can be done but is it a good idea? Any thoughts? mountpoint fallback support
...uot; mountpoints. These guest mountpoints would attach on a scheduled based and, theoretically, the main mountpoint would stop broadcasting so the guest mountpoint would take over. Then, when the main mountpoint would want to regain control, start it's stream back up and a switchover from the fallover to the main mountpoint would occur. Would this work? If not, would it be hard to change the code to do this? I figure the hard part would be to dynamically load different XML config files for changing the guest mountpoints. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast...

[LLVMdev] Working on getting MingW32/native tools-only source build up
Hello, Kenneth > Libraries weren't being linked in; This means, that generation of llvm-config for you is broken. I really suggest to use perl from msys-DTK, not ActivePerl. -- WBR, Anton Korobeynikov

Building two redundant servers without clustering
...crawl anyway because drdb is slow? 2.: Use rsync. If I remember correctly, rsync was not supposed to run permanently as a daemon to keep two filesystems in sync(?). I could live with that, but how big is the overhead if I ran rsync every 5 or 10 minutes? I want to achieve a trouble free passive fallover. I one host fails, people might have to login again and they even might have to wait up to 30 minutes but then it has to work and they have to get all their files. This is a public school and data is not worth real money most of the time, but once in year there are final exams written and if...

samba 3.0.11, security=server and smbpasswd as fallback not working
Hi, with samba 2.2.12 a user was able to connect to a share with his local smbpasswd if he had no user on the password server. I updated the samba server to 3.0.11 and this is not working anymore. I kept the config files and the smbpasswd file. The smb.conf man page describes old behavior, but if the password server rejects the password the connection gets terminated with

PRI Down but zaptel lets calls through
Hi, i am having a problem with my point to point t1, which is being resolved and is a seperate issue. sangoma support has been a huge help and i am waiting on verizon to increase the signal output of the smartjack. But my issue is that in the meantime my fallover extensions arent working. Well they are on the CPE side but not on the NET side. The NET side still thinks its making calls, they obviously dont go through, and they dont return errors. I tried adding ChanIsAvail hoping that would detect the line is down but thats not working either. So basic...

Holding and call parking idiosyncrasies...
We are going to replace a BizFone with Asterisk and one of the features that I haven't been able to emulate is the PBX hold. We can put a call into hold with the * key and every 30 sec the phone gets a beep to remind us it is there and the caller on hold can hit # for other options. The closest I've come with Asterisk is call parking, and that doesn't quite do it. Using the

shorewall restart failure recovery option?
Hi, I was thinking about changing the #shorewall restart command a little bit. Would it be a good idea to make this command restore the previous running configuration in case of a start-failure? (kind of like the "try-command") 1. Save the currently running iptables configuration to a /tmp file. (with iptables-save for example) 2. Run the new configuration. (the one in /etc/shorewall)

Need some help with a new SNAT/DNAT/NAT + DMZ + Xen Host/Guest config.
Hi. I''m migrating to shorewall(6) mgmt of my various firewalls. Simple configs have been easy with the great docs. I''ve got a slightly more convoluted config, and have gotten ''lost'' in config''ing a SNAT/DNAT/NAT + DMZ + Xen Host/Guest set up with Static IP/29. Having some challenges wrapping my head around the ''best'' Shorewall
