I've fallen and I can't... re-join?
Hi, all. I''ve got a few PCs that, for various reasons, "fell out" as members of my domain. The problem here is that they didn''t know it, and, using cached information, have been chugging along fine for their end users. This means that their locally cached profiles are w-a-y out of synch with the stuff on the server. So, my question: is there any way to

Hunting a histogram variant
...www.dropbox.com/s/ozi8bhdn5kqaufm/labelled_histogram.png?dl=0 It seems to have a long pedigree, as I see it (as in this example) in documents going back beyond the '80s. But I've not seen it in recent textbooks. So it may be one of those older graphical displays that's just fallen out of use. General questions: i) Does this thing have a name? ii) Can anyone point me to a literature source for it? ... and the R question: ii) Is it already hiding somewhere in an R package?* S Ellison *If it's not, I'll be adding it to one, hence the hunt for due credit/source...

post hoc tests two way repeated measures anova
Hi, is there a specific/appropriate function/package to perform post hoc tests when running a two way repeated measures anova? I''m looking for something that will be equivalent to the ''TukeyHSD()'' for between subjects anova (with ''aov()''). For one way repeated measures anova, the ''pairwise.t.test()'' function seems to work

Xendomains always broken for me, nobody else?
Hi All, Everytime I upgrade to a new version of Xen (just did 4.2.1 this weekend) I find the xendomains script completely unusable. I use xl exclusively and the behaviour is slightly different to what the script appears to be expecting. Am I the only one that has this problem? I have an Ubuntu 12.04 based Xen server and a Scientific Linux 6.3 based server and both suffer the same problem. I am

tree mortality risk model using glm()
...logit")) several times, but now I think that a log link is more appropriate. I want to fit a model for probability of tree fall (TF)), with tree diameter (dbh) and soil moisure (soil) as predictors. A large number of trees have been checked every second year whether they stand up (0) or have fallen (1). I assume that the tree fall probability is predicted by TF = 1 - exp(-(dbh + soil)) log(1 - TF) = -(dbh + soil) I thought the following call would fit the model, but I get an error message. test<- glm(1-TF ~ dbh +soil , data = extdat, family = quasibinomial(link = "log")) Error...

Circular dependency issue in startup
...e uses RailsCron. RailsCron adds a class method to ActiveRecord::Base. Unfortunately, during the initialization phase, plugins aren't yet loaded, so I can't setup my observers in config/environment.rb, as suggested by the comments. What's a poor dev to do ? At the moment, I have fallen back to this: # Require all models, to speed things up in production and to setup # all RailsCron tasks, observers. Dir['app/models/**/*.rb'].each do |f| require File.basename(f) end Thanks ! -- Fran├žois Beausoleil http://blog.teksol.info/ ______________________...

Deciding when to adjust the window size
What is the algorithm adopted by OpenSSH when it comes to deciding when to adjust the size of window? I would have thought that one''d better adjust the window size as soon as it has fallen below the maximum packet size. What worries me is a potential deadlock, in which one party does not send anything, because the window is too small for its next window space-consuming packet, while the other does not adjust the window on the grounds that it reckons it size still is large enough. How...

(semi-) rugged laptop running CentOS 5?
We''re looking for a laptop to run in a 10,000'', cold, occasionally wet environment, and it needs to run CentOS 5. Perhaps something like the Dell Latitude E6400 ATG? There''s a reference to a minor trackball bug for the 6400 under CentOS 5 (http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4192) but otherwise it sounds like the x86_64 version should run on it. Ideally the

memory leaks
...ress to ruby VALUE in every director initialiser using GcMapPtrToValue. The problem is that being a value in this global hash means that every Wx::Bitmap (for example, and others) are always marked in ruby''s GC mark phase, so they are never collected until shut down, even if they have fallen out of scope everywhere else. I think the way to go is to dispense with fixdeleting altogether and define appropriate freefuncs for the different types of Wx classes (Windows, TopLevelWindows, Events, others) that reflect wxWidgets own memory management tactics. But this uncovers quite a few bu...
