Simply, WRONG INFORMATION! It's not gone but the source only publisized.
The same tactics as Lame's. Sorry, the FAAC project team.

New version vorb_enc.dll
Hi all,
I've just posted another version of vorb_enc.dll (w/source code) at
http://xtractor.sourceforge.net/vorbdll-20000626.zip
It will still work as a drop-in replacement for bladeenc.dll (just rename
the files that your ripper creates from MP3 to OGG), but will also accept
info for the ogg comment header in the vorb struct in the format union of
the BE_CONFIG struct. I'll be

MP4/H.264 codec for Firefox?
Hello,
I am trying to get MP4/H.264 playback in Firefox to work on my CentOS
laptop (for vimeo).
I installed the gstreamer plugins as described here:
https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/MultimediaOnCentOS7
(No, I did not install Flash, VLC and all the other stuff. I only want
HTML5 MP4 playback..)
I enabled the nux repos. I did install all available gstreamer plugins,

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate.
I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

elegant way of re-encoding?
Hi,
Now that I've been able to look at streamtranscoder 3.0, I see there's
absolutely no documentation whatsoever. I've not compiled it, but I note
that previously when you ran it first time, it would create a sample config
file for you to edit. Maybe it still does this.
Oddsock's flash demo may shed more light on this, but I can't use it so
don't know.

aac and tag editing
As my iphone will not play nice with open source audio formats I'm
forced to use aac.
I have faac and produce .aac files that seems to play fine with Amarok
but no tags.
I usually use Easytag (from rpmforge) to deal with metadata on audio
files, but despite the advertised ability to do mp4/aac it does not even
show the files......
Anyone have any experience or pointers as to how I get the me...

A-ha! That explains a lot. There used to be a project called FAAC but
I presume it's gone. After seeing this 'patent war', I even began to
beleive that 80's and 90's commercialist junk music is more or less the
result of the marketing strategies of the record industry. They even
choked out a talented artist like Prince (He wrote about MP3 th...

Filmon HDI Player
Hello,
wonder if anyone can help here - perhaps a winetrick (tried DIVX - doesn't help, and slight problems with Ubuntu 9.10, like some other Linux programs have). I have tried to install a MS Windows program to watch TV, films etc. over the Internet from filmon.com. The program gives a "network problem" message after trying to authenticate the log-in name and password.

ices0, lame, and m4a
...faad, lame, and ices0
without any problems... or so I thought. I ripped a
CD with iTunes and uploaded the m4a file to my server.
I set up the playlist, run ices, and I get a
segmentation fault. Is this an issue with how iTunes
rips the CD?
Relevant installed ports (let me know if I missed
one):
faac-1.24_5
faad-2-2.0_5,1
flac-1.1.2
lame-3.96.1
libogg-1.1.2_1,3
libshout-2.1
libvorbis-1.1.1,3
I'm using Icecast 2.3.0 and Ices 0.4. My question is:
how do I get AAC working with Ices 0.4? Should I
consider a different streamer? Or for that matter,
should I just forget using AAC and encode in...

Just need sound and/or a stream

But despite Apple's "kitchen sink" approach in QT, and since the
open source projects are getting better & better, I use my own
recent (SVN) builds of mplayer & ffmpeg and all associated libs
etc. (liba52 for AC3, FAAC+FAAD for AAC, and so on) to test and
monitor streams.
When I was netcasting the LiftedRadio live gigs, I used jackd
(sometimes jackdmp) and darkice on PowerMac towers to grab the
audio and feed into IC-2.3.1 in various formats (mainly mp3 via
LAME, and Ogg/Vorbis, never could get AAC working quite...

YAPQ (Yet Another Patent Question)
Looks like the mpeg gestapo are frantically at work cracking down on mpeg
projects. Several important projects (tsunami mpeg, gogo, faac, etc) were
shut down by the jack booted patent nazis.
Since FhG, mpegla, etc plan to start charging royalties on
everything even remotely mpeg-related very soon, I expect a lot of
interest is going to shift to Vorbis.
And soon thereafter, I expect FhG to attack Vorbis. FhG seem to have

Website for Ogg/Vorbis support for MPEG4IP
Hi
I have created a small website trying to document my Ogg/Vorbis support for MPEG4IP.
You can find it here.
