Significance Help
I have a set of results where I have the eyesight power of both left and right eyes for each participant (e.g. 0.75, 0.5). Each participant then had to throw basketballs into a hoop and the number of successful throws was recorded. I would like to do two things: 1. Test whether the eyesight power of the left and right eyes are significantly diff...

1600x900 not available
My laptop is a Dell XPS-13 running CentOS 7.? It has a 13" 1920x1080 screen and it's a bit difficult for my mid-40s eyesight.? Fedora and Debian, on this laptop, give me the option of choosing 1600x900 which is much easier for me to read but CentOS doesn't show this resolution as available. I followed the steps I found in a post on stackexchange using xrandr, substituting 1600x900 where applicable and it worked...

Unpredictable EPS->PDF rotation (PR#4460)
Dear r-bugs, When I create EPS files, they sometimes appear rotated in my LaTeX PDF document and sometimes they don't. Two examples: ## x1.eps is not rotated in LaTeX x <- seq(-1, 1, length=100) postscript("c:/x1.eps", height=3, width=4, horizontal=FALSE, onefile=FALSE, paper="special") plot(x, dnorm(x), type="l") dev.off() ## x2.eps is not

Is there something wrong with R version 3.0.2 (2013-09-25) -- "Frisbee Sailing"?
Hi, pnorm(-1.53,0,1) under version 3.0.2 gives 0.05155075. I am pretty sure it should be 0.063. Is there something wrong with this version of R? I am using: R version 3.0.2 (2013-09-25) -- "Frisbee Sailing" Copyright (C) 2013 The R Foundation for Statistical Computing Platform: i686-pc-linux-gnu (32-bit) -- Tom [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Windows 10 Client - Samba 3 Server - NT4 Style PDC
FWIW; I connected to the domain on the rolled back 1703 machine. It wasn't connecting due to spelling errors on my end when setting the various keys (Damn those post 40 eye/vision things - don't get older kiddies). Base on my experiences then, if you're connected to the NT4 style domain prior to the 1803 update, then you'll stay connected. On all my 1803 machines, the domain

Sieve/autosubscribe subfolder
Hi, I just ran across the annoying issue, that with lda_mailbox_autocreate = yes lda_mailbox_autosubscribe = yes set, parent folders of newly created subfolders get subscribed without being existent. Let me give an example: In sieve I use fileinto "foo/bar"; but "foo/" does not exist as folder. So the Mailbox "foo/bar" gets created, but without "foo/"

..., but doesn't have to be positive. In fact, the time series are estimates of a cycle, and has negative values, which unfortunately are not included in my sub-sample. And the negative values are not handled properly (the series disappears for the negative values) Also, maybe it is my bad eyesight, but in examples of the older, deprecated ggjoy package, there seem to be a slight offset added to the depth effect, which doesn't appear to be the case now, or am I missing something. There is this in the manual: > position > Position adjustment, either as a string, or the result...

A comparison of VP3, and two MPEG-4 variants
a couple points before I look at this too hard: "For VP3, since you can't do a constant quality encode" what? that should not be the case. Could be a QT-specific bug. Theora at any rate is certainly capable of doing constant-quality encode. This probably explains your standard deviation complaint -- VP3 is running a rate control alg, where the other codecs are just shooting for

Problem with "force create mode" et. al.
Hi, folks. I've got a weird situation here. I'm sure it's something small, but, well, either I've been cursed by a witch doctor, or my eyesight is getting too bad to find small problems. Either way, I'm more than willing to be pummeled for asking such a stupid question, as long as it helps me get it solved. I'm replacing an NT file server with a Samba box (hooray!). Running Linux 6.1, freshly-compiled Samba 2.0.7 installation (n...

samba.org has been revised!
As some of you might have noticed, the official Samba web site [1] has been revised during the sambaXP conference [2]. The web design was revamped and a new logo has been created. Some of the related pages (e.g. the Wiki [3]) have already been adapted to the new style as well. Special thanks go to Blackbit [4] for creating the new design, to SerNet [5] for sponsoring and to Stefan Metzmacher
