speed?
dear R wizards:
while extolling the virtues of R, one of my young econometrics
colleagues told me that he still wants to run ox because [a] his code
is written in it (good reason); [b] because ox seems to be faster than
R in most benchmarks (huh?).
this got me to wonder. language speed can't matter much, so it must
be mostly the underlying matrix algebra by now. I presume that

Recommendation for a Linux alternative to Centos - ATH9K disaster
I persuaded a reluctant friend to buy a new computer. I enthusiastically
extolled the joys and benefits of Centos and promised to install it on
his new machine - dual booting with Micro$oft Windoze 7.
His super-duper new laptop arrived. Acer, AMD 4 core, fast etc. but not

Hi all,
New member here. I''ve been working with Prototype for a while, and I
love it. However, there''s one thing I still can''t figure out.
Let''s say I have an array of objects, representing contacts in an
address book:

Hello,
I am still confused: does pyGrub run in dom0 as root? as it says in here:
"PyGRUB used to act as a “PV bootloader”: it runs in dom0 as root,
opens the PV disk image, reads its GRUB menu.lst, presents a GRUB-like
menu to let the user choose a kernel which it copies to the dom0
filesystem, it then closes the disk image and eventually tells the
domain builder to use that copy. Such a

Total Tracks Tag?
heyas-
I believe there is a need for a standard vorbis comment
field to encode "Total Number of Tracks (on a CD)".
Why we need this --------------------
- Existing Vorbis programs already implement this,
inconsistently, and hence don't interoperate.
These seems the key reason to me.
- MP3s include this
- Some software (e.g., iTunes) uses this information,
e.g., to display
