cp -arl stuck in __wait_on_freeing_inode
Hi all. I posted this to LKML, but might get a faster reply if I go direct to you. I haven't subscribed, so please reply to me too... I began a bk export -du patch and shortly afterwards a cp -arl on the kernel source tree. The latter got stuck in ext3_lookup iget_locked find_inode_fast __wait_on_freeing_inode schedule The box is running 2.6.8.1 with SMP, HT scheduler and preempt (can send a full .config if someone wants it). No other processes are stuck; it looks to me like it lost a race. Is this a known/fixed issue, or is there something I can do to...

corrupted /etc/mtab
...ted /etc/mtab file and I just wanted to check that my plan of action is correct. df -k returns: df: cannot read table of mounted file systems: No such file or directory ls -la mtab: ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? mtab messages full of errors: EXT3-fs error (device cciss/c0d2p1): ext3_lookup: unlinked inode 847444 in dir #846977 I would like to fsck / partition, but, obviously, can't do it on a live system. The plan is to touch /forcefsck and to force fsck during reboot. Please let me know if you see a problem with my plan or have any other suggestions. Thank you, Asya

Emergency rescue help needed
...t messages, culminating in SELinux is preventing dovecot (dovecot_t) "append" to /var/log/mail/mail.info (sendmail_log_t). For complete SELinux messages run..... then syslogd 1.4.1:restart no reason given. Everything then continues as normal until suddenly EXT3-fs error (device sda7): ext3_lookup: unlinked inode 638978 in dir #638977. Lots of 'Last message repeated' messages, and eventualy it shut down. I did allow fsk to run when I restarted the box. That doesn't seem a lot to go on. Any advice? Thanks Anne

Kernel panic in ext3:dx_probe, help needed
This may or may not be ext3 related but I am trying to find any pointers which might help me. I got a number of HP Proliant DL380 g5 with a P400 controller and also two qla2400 cards. The OS is RedHat EL4 U5 x86_64. Every time during reboot these systems panic after the last umount and I believe before the cciss driver is getting unloaded. The last messages I am able to see are: md: stopping

Sorry for such a long mail, but I think that a verbose description is necessary so you can point me what I''m doing wrong. I couldn''t boot properly over the network. This is why I
