Semi-OT: Backing up maildir
...4 hours). Ours is a modest server with about 1300 users,
about 300GB of mail total. The whole thing sits on hardware RAID-10, so I'm
primarily guarding against a MAJOR hardware failure, a config blunder, or a
hacker wiping out files. How do you guys back up your maildir? I've
considered exporing the maildir with NFS and backing it up from another
server.. Any opinions on that?
Thanks,
Shayne

About monitoring
Hello all,
As I've been exporing libvirt api, I've seen event registerers, and types of
events are defined, undefined, and you know the rest. Is it all for event
types? Any ideas about how to look for a device access event, for example?
Kind regards

Creating new folder in a WIN95 explorer czech version.
I can't create new folder in a czech Win95 explorer on a unix using samba 1.9.18p7. The problem is that Windows exporer uses for the creation new folder a name containing characters above 128.
The explorer creates new folder in a two phases: the first It creates directory named Nov<A0> slo<A7>zka and next it gives to user
posibility to change this name. Crazy !!? The first phase

Some strange i64 behavior with arm 32bit. (Raspberry Pi)
Hi Tim,
thanks for the swift response!
@debug is defined in the same module, which makes this all the more confusing.
The target information from the working example are:
target datalayout = "e-m:e-p:32:32-i64:64-v128:64:128-a:0:32-n32-S64"
target triple = "armv6kz--linux-gnueabihf"
from the ghc produced module:

Android Clients Unable to Browse/Connect to Shares
I have an Android client (x-plore) that was able to see and mount shares
from my server until the latest upgrade. I've tried setting client ipc
min protocol = NT1, but it still can't browse to the server and can't
connect to shares if I supply the address. Is there some browsing/sharing
setting that I might have missed in the most recent version?
This is Debian bullseye samba

Moving from Structured to Object Oriented
Dear Devels,
I am not aware whether this topic was discussed earlier or not.
But it was on my mind from quite few days so ..
Are we planning for movement of samba from C to C++ or other OOP language.
If not why, reasons of yes I find quite a few...
* C++ is a highly portabl/e/ language and is often the language of
choice for multi-device, multi-platform app development.
* C++ is an

Solaris 11.1 Samba 3.6.6 oddity: wbinfo is good, but getent is not.
Hi all.
I've been searching various archives and lists to see if I can track down what I'm doing wrong ? but I suspect something is getting in my way (bug perhaps)? I thought I'd ask on the list to see if others have any experience here.
Situation is as follows:
1. Solaris 11.1 box, successfully bound to active directory domain using traditional net join ads syntax.

Strange problem with 3.0.4
Dear list,
I recently updated my servers from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4.
After that upgrade I discover a strange problem:
I can mount/browse/whatever shares with Windows Explorer, MSIE, Firefox
... but I cannot use a mounted share with Macromedia Homesite. I can't
see anything in my logs, I allways get a "Connection refused. Maybe you
are not authorized to use this share."-message.

Storage cluster advise, anybody?
Dear Experts,
I would like to ask everybody: what would you advise to use as a storage
cluster, or as a distributed filesystem.
I made my own research of what I can do, but I hit a snag with my
seemingly best choice, so I decided to stay away from it finally, and ask
clever people what they would use.
My requirements are:
1. I would like to have one big (say, comparable to petabyte)

Who else can reproduce this problem?
I truely believe I've stumbled across a bug deleting directories. The
bug is either with Windows 2000 or with Samba 2.2.1a and 2.2.2. I'd
tend to think it was a Windows bug except that the problem does not
occur against earlier versions of Samba.
I've duplicated this problem deleting directories to Samba versions
2.2.2 and 2.2.1a in various configurations running on several

Long Delays Displaying Small Folders in Windows Explorer (samba-3.0.10-1 FC2)
Hi,
I'm trying to replace a windows fileserver server with a Fedora Core 2
samba server in our Windows 2000 ADS domain.
A performance problem occurs when accessing certain samba shares from
Windows Explorer on either an Windows XP or a W2K client machine. It
can take up to a minute for explorer to list files in a share folder
containing only a few files! It eventually does, but but reports
