having should_receive expectation for things that happen in setup
Hi!
The following example doesn''t work for me: http://pastie.caboo.se/41732
However, if the call to msg() happens in the specify block after the
expecation and not in the setup, it will pass.
Why is this? I thought the setup method was there to actually
''construct'' the context and the specifications are some kind of
"postconditions" that only need to be

Opus for ASR - update and questions
For the last couple months, Nuance has performed extensive testing on how the Opus codec performs in the speech recognition task. I'm hoping to publish a full report in the coming months, but until then all I have is a teaser. Opus performed within about 1% of the WER (Word Error Rate) of unencoded audio. This is compared to about 5% for Speex, which was the previous codec of choice. Well

...mble with llvm-objdump though I see the following:
_Z3foov:
400c10: e9 09 00 00 00 jmp 9 <_Z3foov+0xE>
400c15: 66 0f 1f 84 00 00 02 00 00 nopw 512(%rax,%rax)
I'm not sure whether the extra 0's after '0xe9 0x09' are alignment padding
(though I was expecing 0x90 to show up if this was an alignment issue).
Is there anything else I can try here?
Thanks in advance!

DLMFS on OracleVM 2.1 (OEL5.0 based)
Hi List,
I want to use DLMFS of OCFS2 to avoid multiple start of virtual machines
on OracleVM. I want to use a wrapper around xm that spawns a deamon that
keeps a file open in /dlm/DOMAIN. Now I played around a bit and followed
the procedure in the document
http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/src/branches/ocfs2-1.2/dlmfs.txt
for DLMFS.
Theres one problem. The "O_NONBLOCK" option is

oggcat or other ways to combine theora videos (with or without re-encoding)?
hi guys,
first of all, i'd like to ask if there any crossplatform software/service ( gui is also better, an online application like firefogg is great, or at least a command line tools for any platform) to combine theora videos, other than oggcat...
i am doing some art projects that people should be able to remix featured theora videos and i find oggcat very usefull in theory but not in

Patch idea for rspec_on_rails
I recently wrote a matcher for testing AR associations which allows
you to specify things like:
Foo.should have_many(:bars).through(:bazes)
I''m pretty darned proud of it and a couple of people have suggested
that I should submit it to the rspec_on_rails project. Before I go to
the trouble of writing out rdoc and fully spec''ing it, I just wanted
to make sure this was

Make sign test show test statistics
When I perform a two-tailed sign test with the following simple syntax,
binom.test(59,100)
R returns a P-value (0.088) but nothing else. As I want the result for a
one-tailed test I take P/2 = 0.044). However, the journal to which I've
submitted my results requests the test statistics, not just the
P-values. How can I make R return the test statistics?

how to make automatically each level from data.frame to vector

x86: How to Force 2-byte `jmp` instruction in lowering
I have a bit of a riddle:
In http://reviews.llvm.org/D19904 I'm trying to spell the following
assembly:
.palign 2, 0x90
jmp +0x9
nopw 512(%rax,%rax,1)
// rest of the code
I try the following snippet to accomplish this:
OutStreamer->EmitLabel(CurSled);
OutStreamer->EmitCodeAlignment(4);
auto Target = OutContext.createLinkerPrivateTempSymbol();
// Use a two-byte `jmp`.

Stopping example execution?
Hello, I''m wondering If I am missing something here when creating an example that sets an expecation at the top or beginning of an action but requires you to stub / mock everything that follows.
Example:
I want to test that a certain controller is running a before_filter...thats easy:
- controller.should_receive(:require_user)
- do_get
But now i''ve got to mock / stub

Mocking the rendering of a Rails template
Hello all,
I''m having difficulty setting up mocks such that I can verify that
Rails was going to render the right template file (for example
new.rhtml) and stop Rails from performing the actual rendering.
After peeking at Rails'' internals, I tried two techniques as illustrated here:
http://pastie.caboo.se/18197
Neither worked.
I think the first one failed because Rails

Spec for validation plugin
Hi,
I''m writing a specification for a model called Location which has a
post_code attribute which should be a valid UK postcode. I''m using the
http://svn.designbyfront.com/rails/plugins/validates_as_uk_postcode/
validates_as_uk_postcode plugin to handle the validation but I''m not sure
how I should properly specify my model.
Heres the model code:
