OT - Mime-construct, exim4 and job numbers
Hi,
I'm using mime-construct to send fax files (from an Asterisk server).
mime-construct is using exim4 to have its job done.
Trouble is I'm not pleased with the way I can link mime-construct and exim4
jobs (whenever an exim4 job fails, mime-construct exit code is still 0) :
all I'm doing at the moment is reading exim4 and syslog log files for events
matching.
In syslog, I've got :

pop before smtp with 'exact' and 'exim4'
...st thought I would write this in case its useful to anyone. I've used
dovecot for a while, as its so easy to set up, its fast and it and just
"works". I recently wanted to be able to send via my server after pop3s
authentication. I'm also running debian (testing) which utilises exim4 by
default. I found no information about how to do it with this combination of
software so went about sorting it out myself.
First I got exact : (a pop before smtp daemon)
http://adju.st/dist/exact/
After compiling and installing i edited its
/usr/local/etc/exact-servers.conf
It doesn't s...

exim4 + dovecot + SquirrelMail virtualhosted on Debian
Hello,
I have a Debian machine that is virtual-hosting 6 domains with exim4. I finally got exim4 working well enough where I can send and receive mail using the mail command on my machine. I would eventually like to have SquirrelMail (which requires IMAP) working on my website. For whatever reason, exim4 doesn't seem to support IMAP. I found out that Dovecot is a p...

http://wiki.dovecot.org/VirtualhostingWithExim
Hi,
Here is a new wording for the "Exim4 on Debian" part of the web page
on http://wiki.dovecot.org/VirtualhostingWithExim. It's immutable, so
I cannot directly change it.
I e-mailed Florian, but he cannot log in to the wiki any more. Can
somebody with appropriate privileges change the page?

Having trouble getting Dovecot to read a ~/Maildir configuration
Hi folks
Setting up a new server, hence a few software packages have been upgraded /
changed. On my old server (only 2 years old) I was using Dovecot and
RoundCube (web mail app) and had a good experience so was keen to use these
again. The only major change is I have switched from sendmail to exim4
(which was installed by default on this Debian server). Exim4 appears to be
doing the right thing, however read on and see if you can spot the error.
I've tried two email clients, RoundCube (via apache) as a local connection
and Evolution as a remote connection. Both appear to login to the D...

the inbox.

- I would like to add additional virtual accounts using the method
described in this post:

SPA (NTLM) Authentication
Hello
I have just spent a happy day (!) configuring Exim4 to accept
authenticated connections from full blown Outlook clients. That works.
Unfortunately, by ticking the "Use SPA" box in Outlook it now demands
SPA on the POP3 server as well.
The existing POP3 server doesn't support this style of authentication.
I believe Dovecot will....

Exim still accepting emails to nonexistent users
After adding the configuration bit:
deny
message = invalid recipient
domains = +local_domains
!verify = recipient/callout=no_cache
from: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LMTP/Exim <http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LMTP/Exim> running update-exim4.conf and service exim4 restart
the server is still accepting emails to recipients that do not exist in dovecot.
Any ideas?

Dovecot replication, no updates on message deposit
Hi,
I am trying to setup dovecot replication based on:
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication
All mailboxes share the same UNIX userid ('vmail'), and I setup ssh-key
based login for this account in both directions. As LDA exim4 is
configured to use dovecot deliver LDA. Here is the relevant config from
exim:
/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d $local_part -f $sender_address -a
$original_local_part@$original_domain
When a message is deposited to a mailbox, it does not get replicated.
The log is silent:

Thanks Jorge, I think this is the answer. I'm using dovecot for exim4 SMTP
authentication. The exim4 logs show brute force attacks.
