max path length - ExcludeProfileDirs not sufficient - temporary profile
...ersicherungsn Indeed quite a long path so i expected problems and used a patch to not sync this specific folder .vkbstandalone to the server ... Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon] "ParseAutoexec"="1" "ExcludeProfileDirs"="Lokale Einstellungen;Temporary Internet Files;Verlauf;Temp;.vkbstandalone" "BuildNumber"=dword:00000a28 That works - this path is not synced. Now the strange part: Even though this path is not synced, windows complains about it cannot find the path and serves a tempora...

ExcludeProfileDirs and broken roaming profiles
Hi, since rolling out roaming profiles, some user profiles are growing very fast. I like to keep the profiles small and think about changing ExcludeProfileDirs default settings in Software\Microsoft\Windows NT \CurrentVersion\Winlogon by System Policies to remove caches, cookies, recent and other "useless" stuff. Which paths could be excluded without "killing" the benefits of roaming profiles? Could your send me your settings and/or...

Roaming profile - Folder redirection - Erase file on server
...folder and replace it by the content of the local folder. The result is that every modification done on the desktop (that are redirected) are lost at the logout. It's a very annoying problem that I can't solve by my self. I search everywhere without any tips. I try some config with "ExcludeProfileDirs" registry key without success. It's possible that I don't use it correctly. Thank for you help and comment. Problem with Windows 7 and roaming profiles
Hello together, we try to setup a samba domain controller with LDAP and roaming profiles for Win7-Clients. Everything looks fine last Friday but today the clients did not longer save changes to the profiles. There is no error in samba log and also no in the windows log. If I delete a profile from a client it is loaded correctly at next logon, but the changes are not saved at logout. Windows XP

Windows 10 with Samba PDC and Roaming profiles
...found this [3] and this [4] on a dutch page. Especially the video show, what the problem is. b) My other problem/question is the startmenu. It doesn't work. Maybe the reason are wrong excludes in the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ExcludeProfileDirs". I need to change this due to the reason, that some software saves settings in "C:\User\User\AppData\Local\...". So I need this to be saved to. The clients doesn't make a clean shutdown. If I login with a local account. I can see, the directory "C:\User\User\AppData\Loc...

Samba 4 PDC and Windows Join
...e joined to a Samba 4.1.18-3.33.2-3407 domain on openSUSE 13.1. @Dario Lesca How is your progress? I'm asking just in case you use Roaming Profiles. I'm trying this for weeks now without success. With the standard exclusions in [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ExcludeProfileDirs] almost nothing is saved. I can't run any Apps. And if you change the registry key and include (=not exlcude) AppData\Local\* I can't even open the start menu. I already mentioned this problem to MS and on this list. But nobody answers. I still can't believe, I'm the only one s...

Cannot copy back profile
Hi! I have a problem with roaming profiles which I don't understand. I can login and logout from XP with a samba PDC with ldapsam flawlessly, but for some reasons when the profile does not belong to the user itself windows tells me upon logout that it cannot copy back some files to the server. Weird, because the directory where the profile resides is readable and writable by the user,

ExcludeProfileDirs="Application data\Mozilla\Profile\default\unsalted.slt\Cache" Path is relative to %userprofile% and may not contain wildcards disadvantage: - cache-path must be adjusted bij script, because there is still a salted-path pointer - while this path is absolut, this is still for every user di...

Outlook .pst files on Samba PDC
Occasional problems arise where the .pst file just will not copy from the users profile on the server. Doesn't seem to be related to the file size. Has anyone had issues with outlook and Samba PDC - (win2k clients). Solutions that have worked have ranged from complete loss of the .pst file to restarting users profile from scratch. thanks Alex Genna

...t --> I don?t know how 2.) export the whole outlook path under local settings --> It works, but not for a long time: After you create an outlook account for the first time, outlook adds a registry entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon --> ExcludeProfileDirs In this entry you can add directories of the roaming profile not to export. --> because of that, the outlook pst would not exported with the roaming profile. Roaming profiles problem
Hey all, I've got a few WinXP workstations logging into a 2.2.4pre (CVS from April 30th, around 8 p.m. PDT) PDC, and I'm having some sort of odd problem with roaming profiles. The XP workstations can successfully (it seems) retrieve and save thier profiles to the samba box; however, if I log off a user, say "gary", from one workstation, and travel to the next one, and log in
