Can not install Excel97/Word97
Hello! I am new to this list (although I have done a fair amount of research in the archives) and I need to ask what is probably one of the most frequently asked questions on a list like this: How do I install Word97 and Excel97? (Codeweavers CrossoverOffice can do this, and they ASSURE us that they roll everything they do back to the main wine CVS and hence, this SHOULD work!) So far; this is what I've done: Debian (testing) distribution, running the debian-packaged version of wine, which seems to be "Wine 200...

wine-20010305 MS Excel97 *.xls -> .xls.xls
Hi, If I open up a worksheet in MS Excel 97, the file name is modified by appending an extra .xls to the name. Multiple .xls's are possible, and it is not necessary to save the worksheet. I'm running Wine-20010305 compiled on a SuSE 7.0 running a stock 2.4.2 Linux kernel. MS Excel is being run from an existing Win98 system partition. Thought someone might want to know, Dick --

WINE and OFFICE97 Applications
Hi all, I've copied from my WIN98 PC to my linux machine the complete C:\WINDOWS\* tree and as application the OFFICE97 installation. On my linux machine codeweaver 1.0 is running. EXCEL97 behaves well but for WINWORD97 I got the alert box "not enough memory or working space". Well I think I have enough memory but it may be a configuration problem. Has anybody experiences with OFFICE97 applications and can give me a hint ?? Thanks Franz K.

Installing Excel 97, SUCCESS!!
Hi again! Yesterday I wrote to this list complaining that I could not install Excel 97. I have now succeeded. The trick was NOT to run "install.exe", but to unpack xl97_1.cab and run the acmsetup.exe in there, like so: "wine -- acmsetup.exe /T excel97.stf" (I think that excel97.stf existed in the first cab-file as well.) The installer will ask for a few files that all can be found in the cab-files.) However, running excel (using "wine excel.exe") does not work. This is a swedish edition, and that is most certainly part of the...

Excel 'save as HTML' problem with Samba 2.0
Hello, Eversince I upgraded Samba to 2.0 version I've gotten so many calls from the users regarding Excel 'save as HTML' problem. What seems to be happening is that the users cannot save their Excel spreadsheet as html file when they were able to with the previous Samba version we had installed (Samba 1.9.18p10). According to MS 'knowledge database', this is a known MS Excel

Rounding problem R vs Excel
For numbers ending in 5 Excel always rounds up and I want to reproduce this in R rather than use the round function. I have tried: x<-as.integer(x*100+0.5)/100 and x<-floor(x*100+0.5)/100 However, some values of x cause problems e.g x<-floor(4.145*100+0.5)/100 4.14 I have tried breaking it down into steps and force the results to 10 significant figures in the following function,

Font behavior question
Good Morning, Sorry if this has been answered previously - searching didn't turn up anything useful... I've been using MS Word97 and Excel97 to do some basic office work at home. They work well enough to let me do what I need to. There's just this one thing: in Excel, I can see and use all my fonts, the whole long list, just as if I was in Windows or running a native Linux app (I've copied all my Windows fonts into Linux)....

oplock_break and Excel data corruption with Samba 2.2.3a
Hi everyone, Just today one of our users informed me that a file she was working on in Microsoft Excel 97 got corrupted. She was working on the file directly on our server, which is running Samba 2.2.3a compiled using gcc-3.0.4 on Linux kernel 2.4.17-xfs and XFS-based filesystems. I checked the Samba logs for her machine and found the following in a search for the filename of the Excel file she
