Newbie - setup help
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Asterisk on a Linux (redhat 8) machine.
There are no analogue phones to be used & use is purely for internet traffic
(SIPs).
I've followed the setup guide from :
http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm
But cannot get asterisk to run.
If I type asterisk at the command prompt I get invalid instruction
If I type ./asterisk start I get [FAILED]

Offering an Asterisk Documentation and FAQ Portal
Hi,
I have resources available to host a portal specifically for the Asterisk system, to help correlate documentation, FAQ's and How To
I am new to Asterisk, and my hardest work is in locating information on using or configuring the software.
Would Mark, John or any of you feel this would be of benefit to host?
I am offering a PHP-NUKE portal for this, (Unless you know of a better

line battery check
I know in the x100p hardware the driver can sense whether there is battery
voltage on the line or not. Is this possible in the zap drivers using t1/e1
interfaces ?
I believe the signalling bits are only ring and hook, not loop presence, so
not sure if it is possible.
I had a situation last night where a main cable was cut in the area and
lines were down overnight. My burglar alarm knew right

Question about cdr_sql fields
...s it possible to set the CDR record field called "accountcode" from within
the dialplan? Or is there another way to cause this field to be set,
preferably without using AGI code.
Thanks

cdr_mysql question: accountcode
Hello-
I'm using the "accountcode" field in cdr table to store some temporary
information used by my perl scripts. I'm finding that the field seems to be
truncated to 19 characters, even though the allocated field in the table is
larger (varchar(45)).
Anyone familiar with the asterisk sources know where I can make a change to
keep this from happening? ie: to allow more

X100P & T100P knock-off boards
Do they fall under FCC certification if they're built to the same
specifications as the ones from Digium? If I build my own T100Ps from the
schematics and board layouts that are available, are they legal to plug
into the PSTN?

Redhat system init and wcusb
I have the dev kit lite installed, and after compiling and installing
asterisk, I've become a little confused about how and when wcfxo and
wcusb are loaded. When ever my box is done booting, the wcusb module is
loaded, but the wcfxo module is not. Further, even though my startup
notices say that asterisk started OK, it is not running by the time I
log in and do a ps. First, where are the

Odd output from X100P
I'm attempting to configure a machine with a DevKit Lite (X100P &

of loop after about 10 seconds, where it spits out what appears to
be 32-bit addresses, ad infinitum. At this point, the machine becomes
completely unresponsive to keyboard input (i.e. Ctrl-C, Ctrl-Alt-Del,
even CapsLock and NumLock states [lights] cannot be

If asterisk is running as a daemon (started with no
command line options), can I reconnect to it and get
the vvverbose info in the console? In other words,
will

it works, but I don't have an installation handy and
have to do some remote troubleshooting soon.

Asterisk freezing HELP
Hello,
I have had several instances over the last month of Asterisk freezing,
sometimes after 12 hours, sometimes after 8 days. The common elements are
that:
- all Zap channels lock[hangups don't register and no new calls in or out]
- no new in/outbound calls can be made on Zap or SIP channels
- people who are still connected to calls can continue to talk
- in the CLI interface, you can

X101P stopped working. Newbie seeks help
Hi
I received the Asterisk Dev Kit Lite on Saturday and got
a small PBX working fairly quickly using the config files
supplied with the kit. This was on my desktop machine
and the sound card stopped working. I turned the system
off and moved the sound card to another slot to give it
a different IRQ. On reboot, the modules zaptel, wcfxo,
and wcusb all load OK and asterisk starts OK but there

I just came across this annoncement, which is particularly interesting as
it is only 25 min away from my place... :-) Anyway, I guess the core of
this is targeted at developers mainly.

3.3v PCI board - TE410P photo
Hi-
I have posted a photo of the TE410P Digium card on my site,
so that those wishing to purchase a compatible motherboard
can see physically what the PCI slot requirement is:
http://www.evtmedia.com/TE410P.htm
I believe the required slot is a 64-bit, 3.3 Volt PCI, most
commonly found on Xeon-based motherboards. A 64-bit slot is
longer than the TE410P board requires, but the PCI connector
layout matches.
CHECK YOUR BOARD CAREFULLY, not only the spec's, but a picture
of the PCI slots....
