[PATCH] Replace mkproto.pl with mkproto.awk

It might not be rare, but it's certainly less universally available than
awk, which is preinstalled on pretty much every unix-like OS out there.

I tested every common implementation I know of, and found that it didn't
work with busybox, awk, I'll be sending the updated patch that works
with at least gawk, mawk, nawk, busybox awk, and openbsd awk right after
this.

random problems with Forwarding=off
...ng on centos 5.
if anymore information needed i'd be happy to help ,
also i should mention that , i have no problem reaching the nodes from the
node with forwarding off .
i have around 64 nodes in my tinc mesh ,
i remember our previous admin told me that , when he made full mesh ,
(connectto to everwhere) , the network became unstable , is there a limit ?
should we experience slowdowns or something as the nodes grow ?
thank you.

This replaces the build dependency on perl with one on awk which is
already used in the build system and is much more ubiquitous than perl

I can't speak for rsync, but nowadays Perl isn't that rare, that a
dependeny on it for build purpose would matter. IMHO.
There are many flavours of AWK. Are you sure, that your AWK replacement
runs everwhere?

Thomson ST2030 firmware upgrade
...e file (as stated
in the ST2030S.inf), then it reboots and loops doing these same things
again and again. The firmware version on the phone stays at 1.42.
Is there a special intermediate firmware version to use before going to
the latest? Something special to include in the .inf file? I looked
everwhere on the Net (including voip-info).
Thanks,

GTA San Andreas camera and graphics problems
...y can't figure out these most common problems so I'm hoping you guys will be able to assist me.
1. "I can't control the camera, as soon as I move the mouse the camera goes all over the place"
2. "The graphics are all screwy looking, everything is awkwardly streched out everwhere."
3. "The audio works but I can't see anything, just a black screen."
When I made the video, I didn't take into account that most mac users are probably using a macbook, this is where I'm guessing these problems are stemming from, probably having intergrated graphics ca...

Is it possible to make install.packages compile source code on Unix but use shipped binary on Windows?
Hi,
is it possible to make install.packages install a source package by
compiling it on Unix, but skip compilation and use a pre-built windows
binary (shipped in exec/) if installing on Windows?
The package should be installable on Windows machines that do not have
Rtools installed. This is to make the update process easier for users,
because the C++ code does not change often, meaning that I

vorbis is dying? [aac is taking over?]
...some
thing that were promised that could actually make ogg vorbis great i
have not seen yet.
For example, bitrate peeling.. it is a great concept, but i have yet to
see a good working example for it.
Would be great if the devs released a working peeler.
I expected ogg vorbis to be adopted mostly everwhere.. but it has
failed to do so.. i'm not sure why.. maybe because:
a) mp3 is wide-spread
b) peoples' lack of knowledge on how to convert their CDs to OGG
c) aac is being advertised as "the next big thing".. mostly because of
Apple's iPOD and the online music store.
As far as i...

postfix and spam, I am impressed
I have had the same email address since 1997 (when microsoft stole
bob.com from me thanks to network solutions...)
In the early days I of course was free with my email and used it everwhere.
Fast forward to 2012, some 15 years later.
woof..the amount of spam sent to me has always just kept getting worse
and worse.
On my centos 5 server I just used sendmail with spamassassin and it
killed a lot. Still, 100s, sometimes more made it through. Then
thunderbird would weed out more, lea...
