new version of package water: Actual Evapotranspiration with Energy Balance Models
Dear R users,
I'm glad to announce the new version of water package (0.5).
As this is my first message to the list, I want to add that this
package provides tools to estimate actual evapotranspiration from
surface energy balance models.
Right now you can run the well-know METRIC model using it. This model
allows to estimate the energy balance using landsat (7 or 5) images
and a weather station.
I'll be happy to discuss or provide more information.
Regards,
Guillermo.

Advice on long for loop
I'd appreciate advice on the following:
I've written an R function
that uses 3 vectors (temperature,
precipitation and potential evapotranspiration)
for a given site, calculates a water budget
(which implies few (<4) iterations), and, from
thresults of this water budget, calculates a number of
bioclimatic indices.
Now I want to calculate these indices
for a large number of sites (arranged
as cells in a raster map), using
monthly rast...

Thornthwaite Method in R
Hi,Has anybody worked with thornthwaite method to calculate the daily evapotranspiration ? I have used the following code to calculate monthly evaporation but what I need is daily evapotranspiration.
Epot <- thornthwaite(Tave, lat, na.rm = FALSE) # Evaluates evapotranspiration for each month.
Do you have any code which works for daily timestep ? Its more technical question, ma...

paquete SPEI función thornthwaite
Hola eRReros.
Os lo explico con un ejemplo:
# Cargamos los paquetes y el ejemplo
install.packages("SPEI")
library("SPEI")
data(wichita)
# los primeros 12 datos
head(wichita,12)
# mi subset de los primeros 12 datos
meu<-wichita[c(1:12),]
meu
# como veis los valores de TMED son iguales en ambos dataframes.
# ahora viene el problema

Blocking and Nested ANOVA Design. Am I using the aov() function correctly?
...of the AI groups to the
treatment that I applied for the parameter that I measured. In total I
have 24 different populations of a specific tree species. The
population refers to the geographical area that I choose to collect
seeds from and for every population I know the annual rainfall and
annual evapotranspiration. I started with equal replicate number of
plants per population per treatment, but some died and some where not
healthy enough to include them in the experiment.
My design is as follows:
- Blocks (6 blocks, those are different days that I planted my
plants. Every block at the beginning...

poly.transform in R
...ndard power basis. There's poly.transform in S-plus. Does anybody
know how to do that in R ? I've found question about that in the
archives of R-help but no real answer.
Example : I'm doing polynomial regression of percentage of one insect in
a community on altitude, precipitations, evapotranspiration, max and min
temperatures using glm. I would like to get the standard coordinates of
my polynom in order to draw maps, get the maximum values, etc...
Call:
glm(formula = Ymat ~ poly(Alt, 2) + poly(Pmm, 2) + poly(E0, 2) +
poly(Min, 2) + poly(Max, 2), family = binomial, data = tableau)

How to simulate the relationship of vegetation and groundwater in Minqin Oasis, Gansu Province, China
