Adaptec 7892 Not Showing
...en on a Adaptec 7892 SCSI controller and it isn''t even
going into the check routines for the disk! (Ie, no disks are found and I
can''t boot into Xen...)... It works fine on FC3 and the drivers are
compiled into the kernel (I tried both new and old...). The machine is an
IBM eSeries 330.
Anyone else have it running on a 7892?
Thanks,
David

[OT] wi-fi ip phone scenario
...ow it's a little bit off-topic, but I was just wondering...
Has anyone ever had any experience with asterisk,
a wi-fi meshed lan (with more than one access point)
and wi-fi sip phones?
I made some tests but I'm not really satisfied....
Wi-fi phones are a curse (as far as I know even
Nokia eSeries -I personally own an e70 model- have their flaws):
- random sip registration failures
- ridiculous battery life
- bad audio quality even with optimal radio environments
- crashes, system freezes
- ...
- slow responsiveness to asterisk "qualify" pings (OPTIONS)
but I can even live with t...

XEN 2.0.1/Xenolinux 2.6.9 domain0 not booting on Debian Sarge / P4 Xeon
Hi all
I am in the process of upgrading my XEN servers from 2.4 to 2.6 kernels
as I am having better results on 2.6.
However one machine (the big daddy) refuses to boot a 2.6.9 xenolinux
kernel. It''s an IBM eSeries xServer x205.
I have selected what i think are the appropriate options in menuconfig
but it refuses to boot into dom0. By refuse I mean it initialises the
hypervisor, gets to loading the dom0 kernel and immediately reboots.
There''s no error messages and it doesnt even get to Scrubbing me...

Then I install RHEL 4 / SLES 9 - Running fine. SAS was installed and
recognized.
Anybody have any idea?

pxeLinux on an Intel SE7501WV2 with 82546EB
...does the drive detection. tftp delivers the boot image (have tried Win98 dos and DOS 6.22) and then I get a lovely "non-system disk" error. Sad thing is, these same images have booted fine on several other configurations, including...
Intel STL2-based servers w/Intel 8255x 10/100 LOM
IBM eSeries x345 w/Intel 82546EB Dual-Port Gigabit LOM
IBM eSeries x235 w/Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit LOM
Dell PowerEdge 2450 w/Intel 8255x 10/100 LOM
It is also worthy of note that I have discovered that the problem appears to be related to the absence of a floppy drive. The servers I'm using have no flop...

Samba 4.4.16 %g translation fails for some users
Hi all,
Just migrated users to a samba 4 server on built on Solaris 11 samba pkg. Some users are mapping all required drives (G:, H:, and I:) but some are not able to map them. The affected users user log files indicate that the %g variable is being translated to '-1' instead of the users Unix group.
I would welcome any feedback or suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Installing on CentOS 4
Hi,
I''m trying to install Xen 3.0.1 on an IBM eSeries running CentOS 4.
Because of proprietary drivers shipped with the server for some of the
remote monitoring hardware, I have to run 2.6.9 as the kernel. I''m
running into a lot of errors trying to compile Xen from source, which
I assume is because it wants 2.6.12 (I changed the kernel versio...

CentOS 5.2 with IBM SERVERAID 6i
I need to install CentOS 5.2 on a IBM Server xSeries 226, which comes
with a IBM SERVERAID 6i RAID card. I think it is not a true hardware
RAID card. I has, nevertheless, an interesting feature: 128MB of cache
with battery backup.
I launched the CentOS boot DVD and CentOS correctly identified the
card and the RAID 5 array as configured by the controller's BIOS.
My question now is:
