Wine & Metastock
I've just recently converted my Windows pc to Mandrake Linux & I've got everything I need working except for this software - Equis Metastock. I've managed to install it. However, on execution, it dies with the following msg: "A CreateFont error occurred while loading the Symbols font: C:\Program Files\Equis\MetaStock\equis.ttf". On the wine console, the following msg appears: fixme:font:CreateScalableFontRe...

tensor product of equi-spaced B-splines in the unit square
Dear all, I need to compute tensor product of B-spline defined over equi-spaced break-points. I wrote my own program (it works in a 2-dimensional setting) library(splines) # set the break-points Knots = seq(-1,1,length=10) # number of splines M = (length(Knots)-4)^2 # short cut to splineDesign function bspline = function(x) splineDesign(Knots,x,outer.ok = T) #...

.call files in /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing
Hi ! I have a python script that create and move .call files to /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing Sometimes...(in this case after 500 successfull calls) Asterisk don?t make the calls and the .call files are in the "outgoing" forever... Any Ideas? I'm using Asterisk 1.4.22 (in 1.4.36 was the same behavior) In my python script I move .call files using ... import shutil

How to use ggplot to do the binned quantile plots(one type of scatter plot)?
...do binned quantile plots... can ggplot2 help me? For example, we bin x data into 10 bins. For each bin, we draw the 10 deciles of the corresponding y data in that bin as points/dots. And then accross all bins, we would like to connect the corresponding decile points/dots together(something like equi-quantile or equi-decile curves)... How do I do that in R or ggplot2? Is there an existing function/command that can do this? Thanks a lot! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

hist function to give each cell equal area
Hi, I want to use hist with non-equi-spaced breaks, picked such that the fraction of the data points falling in the cells (defined by 'breaks') is roughly equal accross all cells. Is there such a function that will automatically try to determine the breaks to fullfill this requirement? Something like.. hist( x, br = magic_...

Merging Data Sets with Full Outer Join
...y.y = "Debitor") Kunden <- merge(Kunden, Kunden_2014, by.x = "Debitor", by.y = "Debitor") Kunden <- merge(Kunden, Kunden_2015, by.x = "Debitor", by.y = "Debitor") delivers too few cases. So I guess it does an equi-join. How can I join the datasets and keep the variables as well as the cases? I am looking forward to your reply. Kind regards Georg

Creating a vector of colours that are as different from one another as possible
...of colors that are as different from one another as possible. ?rainbow states "Conceptually, all of these functions actually use (parts of) a line cut out of the 3-dimensional color space...". This suggests to me that the resulting colors are all placed on this "line" and are equi-distant along it. The resulting color palette is a range of colours where adjacent colours are actually quite similar, especially when n (the number of colours) is high. Conceptually I guess what I want is colors from a 3D polygon in 3D colour space, where the number of vertices in the polygon is...

points on a sphere
Not an R question directly, but has anyone got a method for placing a moderately large number of (near) equi-spaced points on a sphere? I have a nasty feeling platonic solids are needed for exact solutions and I'm thinking of samplings involving around 200 - 1000 regularly-spaced points, Thanks, Richard Rowe Richard Rowe Senior Lecturer Department of Zoology and Tropical Ecology, James Cook Univ...

how the break is calculated by R?
Hi all: As to hist, the help file says:" R's default with equi-spaced breaks (also the default) is to plot the counts in the cells defined by breaks." I wanna know how the break is calculated by R? In other words: break = (max - min)/(number of group) but how the "number of group" is calculated by R? Thanks!
