Help setting up multipathing on CentOS 4.7 to an Equallogic iSCSI target
I'm trying to test out an Equallogic PS5500 with a server running CentOS 4.7 I can create a volume and mount it fine using the standard iscsi-initiator-utils tools. The Equallogic box has 3 Gigabit interfaces and I would like to try to set up things so I can read/write from/to the volume using multiple NICs on the server i.e. get 200+ Mbyte/s access to the volume - I've had some

Windows DomU on NAS
Hello, I''d like to be able to create a windows DomU which is to be stored on a NAS (Equallogic) device. I was wondering if anyone has any best practices on how to do this? Is there a way to extend the DomU C drive once you create the initial device, etc? Any suggestions would be great. I have already tried this by just using a phy:/dev/path-to-iscsi-mount- point and it appears to

ZFS with Equallogic storage
I''m planning on setting up an NFS server for our ESXi hosts and plan on using a virtualized Solaris or Nexenta host to serve ZFS over NFS. The storage I have available is provided by Equallogic boxes over 10Gbe iSCSI. I am trying to figure out the best way to provide both performance and resiliency given the Equallogic provides the redundancy. Since I am hoping to provide a 2TB

Dell Equallogic
Hi List, Does anyone here use Dell Equallogic IP SAN? If so, do you have any immediate high points / low points you wouldn't mind discussing on- or off-list ? Thanks.

Support XCP 1.0 for adapter Dell EqualLogic PS Series SAN arrays on Xencenter
Anyone here using the XCP 1.0 Storage EqualLogic has the dell? In Citrix XenServer Xencerter appears to integration, but in XenCenter not with XCP. I read that the drivers were removed. No way around installing the drivers again? Cordialmente, Lorscheider Santiago +55 85 81559040 Msn: lorscheider_santiago@hotmail.com Visite meu blog: http://lsantiago.spaces.live.com Twitter:

Moving zfs to an iscsci equallogic LUN
We have a Mirror setup in ZFS that''s 73GB (two internal disks on a sun fire v440). We currently are going to attach this system to an Equallogic Box, and will attach an ISCSCI LUN from the Equallogic box to the v440 of about 200gb. The Equallogic Box is configured as a Hardware Raid 50 (two hot spares for redundancy). My question is what''s the best approach to moving the ZFS

ISCSI SAN suggestion
Sorry for the off-topic question but I need advice on a buying a ISCSI SAN for 4-6 servers running CentOS 4.4 .The main purpose for the SAN is to store email accounts (that will be accessed by imap - dovecot) and other documents. Minimal redundancy is required (e.g. dual power supplies, battery backed write cache or mirrored controllers) and price for a 2 TB configuration should be under $ 10000.

Pool, iSCSI and guest start
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Former user of Xen and newbie in kvm/qemu/libvirt stuff, I give it a try on my network ;-) I need to run a VM with iSCSI target attached. I did it this way : 1) Creation of iscsi pool (equa.xml) : <pool type="iscsi"> <name>equalog</name> <source> <host name="10.10.0.1"/> <device

sdc1 without the sdc
So I'm working with the iSCSI Initiator and an EqualLogic SAN. I'm not sure when this might have happened, but it appears that the /dev/sdc device is missing, yet the /dev/sdc1 partition exists AND is mountable. Is there a method to re-create the /dev/sdc device? I cannot dd or fdisk it, obviously, but I can mount the /dev/sdc1 partition and it works just fine. Not having the /dev/sdc

Need SAN suggestion
Hello, It is not total off-topic since almost all connected servers will be RHEL and CentOS. :) We are considering to purchase new storage system. The most probably we will be choosing between HP (EVA6000), EMC (CX3-20C) and Hitachi (similar model). iSCSI connection is also required. What are your experienced with listed systems? What to avoid? What ot expect? Now I just know

strategy/technology to backup 20TB or more user's data
Hi Friends, I am currently using Samba on Centos 4.4 as a domain member of AD 2003 with each user having a quota of 2GB(no of users is around 2,000). Now the management wants to increase the quota to 10GB with this there will be more than 20TB of data to be backup weekly which will take lots of hours. Currently Veritas backup software is used to backup data on tapes. There is a concept of

CentOS and Dell MD3200i / MD3220i iSCSI w/ multipath
We've been wrestling with this for ... rather longer than I'd care to admit. Host / initiator systems are a number of real and virtualized CentOS 5.5 boxes. Storage arrays / targets are Dell MD3220i storage arrays. CentOS is not a Dell-supported configuration, and we've had little helpful advice from Dell. There's been some amount of FUD in that Dell don't seem to know what

Highly Performance and Availability
Hello everyone, I am currently running Dovecot as a high performance solution to a particular kind of problem. My userbase is small, but it murders email servers. The volume is moderate, but message retention requirements are stringent, to put it nicely. Many users receive a high volume of email traffic, but want to keep every message, and *search* them. This produces mail accounts up to

Can I use shorewell stuff for my problem
Hi all, Im new to shorewell, can anyone guide me whether I can use shorewell for my work. I have a requirement in our work: Each system shall have two Ethernet card interfaces(system means hardware devices, servers, clients in other words any device or host used in the project). The IP address of each interface will be of different networks, subnets and gateways completely. Bcoz if one of

UFS or ZFS for MYSQL and APACHE web server data and Database
I have two 200GB ISCSI LUN''s setup on each X4600 M2 running Solaris 10 X86 update 4. The data on these ISCSI disks for one server will be Apache and on the other server MYSQL. My question is should I setup these disks as a ZFS Pool filesystem or as a UFS soft partition (eventually the LUN will be expanded). What would offer the best performance and easier to expand later on? What

An Open-iSCSI Question
Hi People Using Open iSCSI I have been able to create and mount multiple iSCSI partitions and have them mount at boot. Now I wanted to setup a situation where one of the visible iSCSI partitions mounts at boot and the other is only available if I manually connect to it. This led me to the following command *iscsiadm -m node -T

Installation error on old Slackware version 10.2
Not very important but installation of shorewall 4.4.14 (and probably other versions) on a old Slackware system (10.2) fails: install -T -o root -g root -m 0755 shorewall /sbin/shorewall ERROR: Failed to install -T -o root -g root -m 0755 shorewall /sbin/shorewall Setting T="" instead of T="-T" in install.sh solves the problem but it is not a solution. -- Regards,

Hardware performance question : Disk RPM speed & Xen Performance
Hello, I am a relatively new user of Xen virtualization, so you''ll have to forgive the simplistic nature of my question. I have a Dell R410 poweredge server (dual quad core CPUs + 32gb ram). I plan on utilizing this server with Xen. The ''dilemma'' I am having is whether or not to replace the 2x 500gb 7.2K RPM drives that came with the server with faster 300gb
