CentOS 7 & dhclient hooks
Hi,
I have CentOS 7 and I am trying to get dhclient hooks working. I have 1)
created file /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enp4s0.conf,
2) created directories /etc/dhcp/{dhclient-enter-hooks.d,
dhclient-exit-hooks.d},
3) added line 'DHCLIENTARGS="-nc"' into file ifcfg-enp4s0 and
4) added file /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/test with line echo
"executed enter-hook",
5)

Desktop Over NFS Home Blocked By Firewalld
Hi,
Just installed CentOS 7 that serves a home dir automounted over nfs.
SELinux is disabled. If I go to the client (oldish version of Fedora)
doing su - username works fine and the nfs export is mounted and I can
see all files and everything seems well. But trying to actually login
to the desktop from the client machine does not work. It starts to
login but then just hangs with a black screen.

Broken br0
Hello,
I wanted to get an extra IP on my local NIC, so I ran `sudo ip addr add
192.168.1.130/24 dev enp4s0`. This didn't work as intended, so I thought
I'd restart the Ubuntu system to have things back to how they were.
Alas, this didn't happen. While the host still has network as usual, none
of the VMs are able to get a DHCP lease from the router, or any
connectivity at all.
I can still s...

Don't specify GATEWAY in interface files where it isn't used. This
should be set on eth0 only.

Setting GDM resolution without knowing the monitor specs
We had a complaint recently from a customer that received a server we shipped out that their monitor just showed a black screen. It turns out that they?d hooked it up to an ancient POS with 800x600 as its best resolution, and gdm in CentOS 7 apparently assumes at least 1024x768. It was apparently a major hassle for them to hunt down a reasonable monitor for us.
Since we almost never use the GUI

After a ridiculous amount of remote troubleshooting, it turned out that these two motherboards ? despite having the same model number and EFI firmware version ? had a sliiiight difference: the first NIC appeared as enp2s0 and the second as enp3s0 on one motherboard, but as enp3s0 and enp4s0 on the other! And here I thought the point of [CNDN][1] was to make such replacements more reliable than the plug-and-pray logic behind ethN.
This is the sort of reason why I need non-Linux sysadmin t...

IOS connections to Samba 4 worked for years, now authentication fails
We have samba 4.8 and 4.9 servers that are Active Directory members. Windows
and other samba clients can access the shares, and for years, iOS devices
worked fine with Samba 4. But a few months ago, Apple IOS 10 and 11 devices
started failing to authenticate. The problem is common to several iOS apps,
FileBrowser, SMBManager, and some others all fail. The App vendors are
stonewalling us, and
