eno1 and eth0 on centos 7.1
I installed 7.1 with the command line values biosdevname=0 net.ifnames=0 thinking this would result in ifcfg-eth0 being the file to use... The system still created an ifcfg-eno1 file and that was what is being used for network config information. I remove the ifcfg-eno1 and rebooted - got no network. I then copied back the ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-en01 and changed the device name in the file and rebooted and back to the correct network. How can I get just the old behaviour o...

How to configure VLAN in CentOS7
Hi, I encountered a problem when creating a VLAN interface according to the Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux-7-Networking_Guide. I configuered the parent interface ifcfg-eno1 as follows: DEVICE=eno1 TYPE=Ethernet BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=yes And I created a new file named ifcfg-eno1.5, the content is: DEVICE=eno1.5 BOOTPROTO=none ONBOOT=yes IPADDR=192.168.81.3 PREFIX=24 NETWORK=192.168.81.0 VLAN=yes Then I restarted the network: systemctl restart n...

hosted VMs, VLANs, and firewalld
...utes for each of those networks are essentially different gateways. (The CentOS boxes in questions are *not* intended to be routers.) I'll take a brief aside here to describe the bridge/vlan configuration: Interface Details ================= On the DMZ side, the physical interface is eno1 on which is layered bridge br0. br0 is assigned a static IP used by the physical node (host OS). VMs that should be on the DMZ get assigned br0 as their underlying network device. On the other network side, the physical interface is enp1s0, on which is layered bridge br2, on which...
