User interface blank
I first tried the regular install for Linux Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex. Both the Wine user interface and e-Sword were there but completely blank, i.e. no labelling.
uninstalled wine Uninstalled e-Sword
installed binaries and command line apt libraries
Wine User interface is there but still minus labels and functionality
What do I do now?

GRUB, the Grand Unified Build that the Lilypond music engraving system
uses does something like that.
If you build the GNU Binutils in a cross-compilation mode you can do that.
Our examples ought to at least mention that one can use Gnu ld on any
platform that ld runs on to link executables for any platform it
generates binraries for.
Even better would be to...

Hashing a set
Dear All,
I am given a time series such at, at every time t_i, I am given a set
of data (every element of the set is just an integer number).
What I need is an injective function able to map every set into a
number (possibly an integer number, but that is not engraved in the
stone). Does anybody know how to achieve that?
Cheers

IP Phone with Standard Power Ethernet
I am looking at phones for my asterisk system and seem to have a problem.
The only Power over Ethernet phones I can find that support the IEEE
standard are 3com. Cisco uses its own proprietary ( and is expensive to
boot ), snom has a different but equally non-IEEE method, and i'm havent
found another phone that I'm confident can do the job for our office.
Whats a good high quality ip

4.2.1 ./configure --sbindir & --bindir settings is different from binary?

Never ever use "sudo" for configure.
Engrave it into your skull, if that's how you best memorize the basic rules of
safety.
Only one "sudo" you need is "sudo make install".

which version?
Hello,
I have a source of wine 20010216 (and a rather old-fashioned internet
dial-up connection...) Do you think it worth while getting the newest
version, or can I just as well install the older one?
Thanks, Simon
I would primarily want to run a very new program 'Igor Engraver -
music typesetting', that might be of intrest to the above question.

4.2.1 ./configure --sbindir & --bindir settings is different from binary?
Hi,
I'm getting further in building Samba 4.2.1 . It's apparently not as simple
as sudo ./configure && make && make install.
At the moment it looks like make is ignoring some directory settings during
configuration.
I've run ./configure as follows:
sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var
--with-piddir=/var/run/samba
