OT: sample rate and emu10k1
...tly off-topic, but since we're talking about sample rates perhaps one of you can help. I have a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 card installed in a nice server running Debian Woody (stable). I have ices and icecast2 working well from recent CVS sources. Linux 2.4.18 kernel using the included OSS/Free emu10k1 driver. Everything works great, but recording from the Line input only works if I set sample rate to 32000. Shouldn't I be able to use 44100 or 48000? I've done so before on much cheaper cards. Would the other (Line2/Mic) inputs work? I get a segfault in ices or any software I use that...

SoundBlaster Live
Folks, I last saw this problem in a thread in this newsgroup a couple of years ago, but there was no solution then. It was then stated that you couldn't get a SoundBlaster Live sound card to work under Wine because Windows 'ran' everything through the emu10k1.vxd file and Wine did not support vxd files. Is this still the case? Has anyone found a workaround yet? Pete

Bionic Commando: Rearmed fails on startup
System Specs wine version: 1.1.0 OS: Gentoo with Linux 2.6.24 Nvidia Drivers: 169.12 wine configs * tried with virtual desktop * tried with WinXP and Vista I was able to install Bionic Commando: Rearmed. However, wine fails when I attempt to start the game with the output shown below. Code: fixme:ntdll:NtQueryInformationProcess (0xffffffff,info_class=34,0x1c3a3b0,0x00000004,0x1c3a3ac)

That age old Midi issue again
I can run most midi apps in wine through timidity with no problem but there are quite a few apps which don't allow you to assign the midi output to timidity such as Media Player Classic or WM player 6. They try to use the windows default which is of course MS synth or Emu10k1. There must be a way of mapping the midi output in wine from such apps to timidity but I just can't get it to work. I have tried all the suggested registry tweeks I have found online but most are several years out of date so none of them work any more. Interestingly I get midi sound output...

echo test application delay using the asterisk cli
...through my speakers. I'm doing lots of audio work (sequencing and recording) so asterisk is definitely the problem. Of course, only thing running is asterisk and nothing special is using the cpu or any subsystems of the kernel, in case you ask. I'm using GNU/linux-2.6.10 on a p3-600 with emu10k1 spu (creative soundblaster live), now using asterisk cvs from only a week old. I've tried the distributions and many many cvs checkouts, but I'm getting no further. The source for app_echo.c is only 30 lines long and does nothing except writing out what it reads in. Mark Spencer, I'm lo...

TDM Card loses Dialtone and Battery
Hello all, I've posted on this problem before. Well here goes again. I have an intel mobo with a p4 2.4ghz proc, 1GB Ram. It has built-in ethernet and vga and 6 pci slots. I dreamed of making this my household communications server: internet router, firewall, vpn and asterisk. Everything works except the TDM fxs card. Well it works for a little while and it dies: no dialtone, no

speex on sparc seems OK
Hi, With the talk of speex possibly mis-behaving on PPC, I decided to check the big-endian architecture I have handy - the Ultrasparc. - playback of Intel platform .spx files appears fine on the Ultra 10. - encoding a .wav file and playing back on the Ultra 10 worked too. My evaluation is that it works the same on my Ultra 10 as it did on my Intel laptop. But I must say the evaluation was made

stream sounds like poo for no apparent reason
here at wkdu.org our minds are blown trying to figure out what our problem is, we are using a dell optiplex gx1 with a soundblaster live card. we are getting a nasty hum on the line in. the thing is we plug a cd player directly into the soundcard the hum goes away and when we plug the line in into anything else there is no hum, so the question i ask where is the hum coming from? we are

Live Streaming Problem

Are there many cards in this category? I'dve thought that all cards would support 44100, it being the standard that it is. Your comments however suggest experience of this problem.
