HMRC Employer's CD won't launch
Hi I've just bought a new laptop and installed Kubuntu 8.04. The HMRC is the UK equivalent of the IRS and issue a CD to help with taxes. In the past this has worked pretty well under Wine and on another laptop of mine was no trouble (with the same version of both Linux and the CD) It appeared to install OK but now won't launch. In the terminal I initially got this Code:

SimplyRestful bug?
Hi I have my routes set up like this: map.resource :contact, :path_prefix => "/employers/:employer_id" so now when I view all contacts for an employer I go to: /employers/1/contacts That works. On that page, there''s a problem with the routes: new_contact_url translates to: /employers/1/contacts/new ... so that works. But, contact_url(@contact) gives me

scoping/non-standard evaluation issue
Dear r-devel list members, On a couple of occasions I've encountered the issue illustrated by the following examples: --------- snip ----------- > mod.1 <- lm(Employed ~ GNP.deflator + GNP + Unemployed + + Armed.Forces + Population + Year, data=longley) > mod.2 <- update(mod.1, . ~ . - Year + Year) > all.equal(mod.1, mod.2) [1] TRUE > > f <- function(mod){ + subs <- 1:10 + update(mod, subset=subs) + } > f(mod.1...

lm.ridge
Hello, I have posted this mail a few days ago but I did it wrong, I hope is right now: I have the following doubts related with lm.ridge, from MASS package. To show the problem using the Longley example, I have the following doubts: First: I think coefficients from lm(Employed~.,data=longley) should be equal coefficients from lm.ridge(Employed~.,data=longley, lambda=0) why it does not happen? Second: if I have for example Ridge<-lm.ridge(Employed~., data=longley, lambda = seq(0,0.1,0.001)), I suppose intercept coefficient is defined implicit, why it does not appear in...

Would you switch jobs for the chance to use Textmate?
Lets say you had a pretty decent job, but your company mandated use of emacs. The poaching employer offers you a free copy of Textmate(tm). Would you jump ship solely in order to use Textmate at company B? Cheers, Dave -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

ConnectionNotEstablished when using connection on AR::Base abstract subclass
I''m using AR outside of Rails and calling establish_connection on an ActiveRecord::Base abstract_class subclass (to protect my connection in case anyone else is using AR). It was working just fine with AR 3.0.9, but I recently attempted to upgrade to AR 3.2.2. Now, when I hit a "nested" query from a has_many, I get a ActiveRecord::ConnectionNotEstablished. If I call

I want to apply Nyblom-Hansen test with the strucchange package, but I don't know how is the correct way and what is the difference between the following two approaches (leeding to different results): data("longley") # 1. Approach: sctest(Employed ~ Year + GNP.deflator + GNP + Armed.Forces, data = longley, type = "Nyblom-Hansen") #results in: # Score-based CUSUM test with mean L2 norm # #data: Employed ~ Year + GNP.deflator + GNP + Armed.Forces #f(efp) = 0.8916, p-value = 0.4395 #2. [LLVMdev] Employment opportunity
Hi! I'm writing this email to you not because I have questions about a particular optimization pass or because I have found a bug in the LLVM code. This time the matter is more personal and maybe of interest for a larger group of people. For the last few months I have been working on a compiler for a domain specific language that will be introduced in a commercial design and visualization
