Rsync problem
I've looked in a lot of places but found nothing. I'm trying to perform an
rsync between 2 RH 7.2 boxes with kernel 2.4.14. My rsync version is 2.4.6
protocol version 24
Here is the command I'm passing:
/usr/bin/rsync -a -vv -C --progress --delete -e ssh /tmp
remote.host.com:/tmp
Everytime I run this command with one of the users, I get this error:

URGENT: REDHAT 6.1 STORES SAMBA PRIVATE FILES IN /etc
dear redhat,
i examined a friend's system today, to help him configure it. assuming
that he just "installed" from scratch the samba package, it appears that
you have provided a default smb.conf file for redhat 6.1 that puts samba
private configuration files in /etc. the suggested options, for example
show "smbpasswd file = /etc/smbpasswd".
this is REALLY bad.

RFC: conflict_warnings plugin
Greetings,
I was hoping to get some feedback on a plugin I wrote.
The plugin is called conflict_warnings and is currently available from
my github repository at http://github.com/EmFi/conflict_warnings
The purpose of the plugin is to provide a simple methods of preventing
data inconsistencies that could arise from multiple users interacting
with the same resource.

What happens to RJS in Rails 3
I know that Rails 3 ideal of unobtrusive javascript will result in the
removal of all inline javascript. But where does that leave RJS?
It looks like PrototypeGenerator is still a part of the Rails core, so
I''m going to assume that RJS templates will remain unchanged. Still
looks like gems/plugins such JRals will be necessary for use of other
JS frameworks.
Can anyone confirm or deny

sshd problem
I appologize in advance if this is a "stupid user problem" but here goes.
I have a RH 6.1 machine with PAM 0.75. I installed OpenSSL and OpenSSH
(2.9p1).
ssh works fine however when I try to run sshd and then ssh into this same
machine
I get Failed Password for user x. I copied the RH sshd.pam file into
/etc/pam.d/sshd.
I even deleted the user and readded it. He can log onto the

This is (maybe to a lesser extent) what happens with most of our
benchmarks, and running them 3 times doesn't add that much confidence but
makes it run much slower. I end up treating the test-suite as

Samba4 as AD DC, with one anonymous read-only share
Hello all,
I have several Samba4 DCs that host various production shares. I need
one share, however, available as a read-only guest share (anonymous)
that will be used as a software distribution share point. I have been
unable to make it work (the servers prompt me for a valid username and
password on that share).
I have done some googling and it seems that this functionality might be

I'm just starting with rsync(). I grabbed the 3.0.7 source and built it on Mac OS X.6.5 (./configure and ./make reported no problems.) When I try running with -X or -A, I get the following error messages:

Samba4 DNS (bind_dlz) management issue on CentOS
To whom it may concern,
Not long ago, I joined a Samba4 box as a DC to a single DC Windows 2003
Active Directory domain to begin the process of learning Samba4.
Unfortunately, before I was ready to make the total switch, my Windows
2003 server died, and the remnants of my domain were left with Samba4.
While I have got my Samba4 running fairly smoothly (after forcing it to
take on fsmo

[LLVMdev] [LNT] Question about results reliability in LNT infrustructure
This is probably another area where a bit of dynamic behavior could help. When we find a regressions, kick off some runs to bisect back to where it manifests. This is what we would be doing manually anyway. We could just search back with the set of regressing benchmarks, meaning the whole suite does not have to be run (unless it is a global regression).
There are situations where we see commit

zpool status my_pool , shows a pulled disk c1t6d0 as ONLINE ???
New server build with Solaris-10 u5/08,
on a SunFire t5220, and this is our first rollout of ZFS and Zpools.
Have 8 disks, boot disk is hardware mirrored (c1t0d0 + c1t1d0)
Created Zpool my_pool as RaidZ using 5 disks + 1 spare:
c1t2d0, c1t3d0, c1t4d0, c1t5d0, c1t6d0, and spare c1t7d0
I am working on alerting & recovery plans for disks failures in the zpool.
As a test, I have pulled disk

That's not feasible on slower systems. A single data point takes 1 hour on
the fastest ARM board I can get (Chromebook). Getting 10 samples at
different commits will give you similar accuracy if behaviour doesn't
change, and you can rely on 10-point

[LLVMdev] Enabling the vectorizer for -Os
Hi,
I would like to start a discussion about enabling the loop vectorizer by default for -Os. The loop vectorizer can accelerate many workloads and enabling it for -Os and -O2 has obvious performance benefits. At the same time the loop vectorizer can increase the code size because of two reasons. First, to vectorize some loops we have to keep the original loop around in order to handle the last
