Finding Instances of a Pattern Throughout Data Set
I have approximately 2.5 million rows from a number of sensor
readings. Having plotted these, I can see a given pattern (say a spike
in the amplitude away from the mean). I would now like to automate
this procedure as we're expecting a great deal more data in the near
future. Is there any package or function that will make this possible?
Many thanks! I suppose, I could do something like:

a solution to the fact that end users cannot scan through the programmes
at all. They have to sit there and take the file as it comes and if a
fatal dropout occurs it goes right back to the beginning.
The cma are keen to sort this too but we are all embroiled in preparing
for the Community Radio Order 2004 FM application deadlines and cannot
spare a great deal of time on chasing the solution.
We also offer mp3 streams and archives and it seems that the lack of
this feature for ogg is steering users toward mp3, which we do not want

Digium and mailing lists
I was somewhat concerned reading Mark's posting earlier today.
Obviously, things are very bad in the US at the moment. Their
Government even deported Cat Stevens the other day (check
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/3686992.stm ).
Clearly, given the fact that Digium contributes so much to Asterisk,
they shouldn't be forced to risk their company's future by hosting these

Reducing the deleterious effects of ego related issues on the list: growing up individually.

you shouldn't. If you are obnoxious, have too little ego to withstand
reasonable well-intentioned community-spirited criticism, ... have
myriad other issues and believe I am referring to *you*; your problem,
not mine. I may be referring to you, but why should you care? If you get
embroiled in some of the negative activities exampled below with good
intentions, I understand completely and do not unduly condemn you for
your efforts.
If the person that removed others from the list because their attitude
was not to the liking of the powers-that-be wants to remove me too, go
