Trying to Get EMBIRD32 Working Under Wine
Okay, I've learned this much so far: Others have made this happen, but details are weak or missing Installer method won't work. It wants to register some stuff during setup, and there is no Registxry under Linux. Some have copied the installed version from Windows to Linux or Ubuntu. Now that works. Details are again skinpy or left out, and that leaves me stuck for the moment. Maybe

Harddisk gone bad
...s in inode XXXXX', that I am afraid that I'll be left with an empty disk once the check is done... The majority of the 18 GB are repaceable data (internet downloads, MPEG and AVI movies, MP3's, etc.) but it also contained all the shared documents me and mi wive have, as well as all her embroidery patterns and most painful, the digital photographs of our 2 kids... Esp of our youngest we have mostly digital pictures (birth and the first days after!!!) Those are the files I want back most dearly!!! Now when I try to do e2fsck /dev/hdc1 I get 'a corruption was found in the superblock'...

Wine shirt
...th zazzle.com and ideas for a Wine shirt for myself. Here's what I have so far in case anyone cares or would like one too: http://www.zazzle.com/tuxg2_wine_t_shirt-235593182956669764 I plan on giving half of any profits to Wine through their donation page & use the rest to set up some Wine embroidery items (I'm thinking a hat & zip-up sweatshirt). After that I'll update the amount that goes to Wine. I thought it was a nice approach because it's print on demand and it's possible for people to customize with their own slogans instead of having to vote on one. Later, -J

an unusual use for R
I thought some of you might be amused by this. In my non-work time, I'm an avid weaver and teacher of weaving. I'm working on a project involving creating many detailed weaving patterns, so I wrote R code to automate it. Details here: http://stringpage.com/blog/?p=822 If the overlap between R users and avid tablet weavers turns out to be >> 1, I'll polish it up and turn it
