OT: hardware, IBM 3650 M2 won't power on
Just for grins, pull off the cover and look at the electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard.
Look for ones with the tops pushed up instead of being flat. This can cause all sorts of odd behavior. Often the machine with a blown capacitor will continue to run till it is powered off. Mostly I see this on Dell machines but have seen it on other machines as...

Do these turn on and cycle?

According to my notes, it has been just over 4 years since I installed them. Looking at on-line sales, these seem to use batteries in a pre-packaged plastic shell. I don't recall if

How big is *your* ego?

Capacitors are one of the components on that motherboard that have a
finite life span. Other components are more or less tolerant of these
changes over time. Eventually the caps WILL fail...this could be 5
years or 25, but it WILL happen with electrolytics. I have a well
maintained, regulated (3 phase power distribution all ups'd generator
etc.) and vented data center (72F 40% relative humidity year round) and
loose things once a week...typically hard disks, but power supplies
often. I monitor and graph temperature PER SERVER.

Very loud noise on TDM400
I am having a problem with and Asterisk installation where two ports
connected to a TDM400 card will have a very loud noise when you try to
dial. The server has an OpenVox D110P, a TDM04B and a Xorcom Astribank
8 fxs. It is running Zaptel 1.4.11 and Asterisk 1.4.18.
The problem always happens with two ports (34 and 35) which are
connected to two GSM gateways. They will work fine for a week

Hardware requirements question
I've read through the Wiki, I know its hard to nail down hardware
requirements because it really depends on what you are going to do. I'm
very new to Asterisk, haven't even read my Asterisk for Dummies book yet
(its in the mail).
Can you tell me if this sounds sane? We are planning on using a Dell
933Mhz dual CPU server, with 1GB of ram for our Trixbox setup. We will
have 7-10

(OT) Computer seems to have died
Hello,
I have an old IBM Netvista. Lately, it would seem to go into sleep mode
but I have all that disabled. I would have to power off to wake it up.
Now I think its done. I can't even get to the CMOS/BIOS. The power light
is on but no beeps or anything spinning up.
I have two of these Netvistas and had put on away when I upgraded one of
the machines. I pulled the HD from it and installed
