any idea why the mail downloading is slow?
Hi! I'm using rc10, but had this problem with previous releases too. Not sure if this is a dovecot problem, but I can not think of anything else. The mail downloading with pop3 is ~very slow, approx. 20 Kbyte / sec. no matter how many mails I've got in my mailbox, or how big are the mails. My ISP provides me a dedicated 100mbit line, and everything else works as fast as expected eg.

considering dovecot
Hi all. I'm making a case to use Dovecot over Courier and would like some feedback. I've searched the web extensively and have been unable to find any hard information regarding Dovecot's IMAP performance. I've got some pressure to use Courier but my gut tells me that Dovecot should be much faster. In particular, I will have typical users with mailboxes exceeding 10,000

How to send correct Caller ID on PRI
Assuming that you are in the US (don't know about elsewhere), the Calling Party Name is obtained by a database lookup performed by the PSTN switch terminating the call. Calling Party Name is the name assigned to your line or location by the phone company. You can't "send" it. You can only receive it, if the phone company has it to transmit in the FACILITY message. Snom or Cisco Phones?
Hello I need to buy IP Phones to work with Asterisk, and I'm in doubt between Snom and Cisco Phones. Can you gurus, please, give me your impression of these 2 brands? I need to focus more in SIP and Asterisk compatibility and less in pricing (yes, I know the Cisco are more expensive). Are there any features that Snom has, that Cisco doesnt? And are these features important? Thanks Joao

converting from courier questions
I currently run postfix and courier on my mail servers with squirrelmail. The problem with courier is it seems to run so slow. The webmail takes forever to load if you have many mails. I have this set up in virtual domains with all longin and path info in an mysql database. I just joined the list and DID google before asking, hope this isn't a common question. With courier it looks for a

How do you like TrixBox?
So I'm sure many of you are using or have tried to use TrixBox. Thus far, I'm in love with it. I haven't had a single snag. Then again, I don't need to get into anything overly nitty gritty with my Asterisk box. What are your views? -- Want a free copy of "TrixBox Made Easy"? Read the contest rules

Dovecot "open files" (again?)
I'm a new dovecot user, just began using it last week. I switched from courier because my research showed that Dovecot did indexes, and allows me to store them anywhere I chose. I did this, and it fixed some severe disk IO issues that my server had. (25k horde only webmail install using imap proxy). I'm using quotas, and by default had it set to 'dirsize'. my postfix is already

SQL mail storage
I wasted some time yesterday and today implementing a SQL storage plugin. It seems to be working, but: - Saving new messages is done in a regular INSERT statement, which is bad. PostgreSQL has at least this COPY TO command which could be used instead. - It breaks in stress testing - It's not that well optimized. Especially it could support caching some commonly requested fields (same as
