"Machine Check Exception: 4 Bank 0: 9000000020000003" when boot CentOS 7, with Intel CPU E3845, and BIOS option "EIST" enable.
My hardware is:
CPU: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU E3845 @ 1.91GHz
and it supports EIST(Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology).
OS: CentOS 7(kernel-3.10)
When I set the BIOS options "CPU configuration >> EIST" to "enable", it appears a kernel panic when the system is starting up. Here is what I am seeing:

Missing /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq
What could be the reason for /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq non-existing?
The cpu supports EIST.
My guess is this may not be available because of cpu power/performance settings
in the BIOS, but I can't take down production machines to play with this. Any
ideas? The HW is Dell PER 5xx/7xx series.

Intel 965 Chipset on 4.4 ?
I have a nice new 965 chipset mobo with core 2 duo cpu. I was wondering
if anyone has any experiences with this chipset and CPU with 4.4 ?
Does the jmicron sata/pata interface work ?
Are both cores recongnized with the right kernel ?
Does EIST work ?
Or should I wait for Centos 5 ?
Cheers,
Brian.

expose MWAIT to dom0
...ost in
into some distro such as SLES11.
Instead of enhancing current approach (e.g. add a separate channel to reveal
mwait capability instead of using cpuid), I''m curious why we don''t expose mwait
in cpuid to dom0 directly. At least original comment in 17573 looks obscure,
since EIST has nothing to do with Cx...

shutdown -r / shutdown -h / reboot all hang and don't cleanly dismount
Hello -STABLE@,
So I've seen this situation seemingly randomly on a number of both
physical 9.1 boxes as well as VMs for I would say 6-9 months at least.
I finally have a physical box here that reproduces it consistently
that I can reboot easily (ie; not a production/client server).
No matter what I do:
reboot
shutdown -p
shutdown -r
This specific server will stop at "All buffers
