Flac multi channel
I see :(
That what I would call a good struct size optimisation.
Please tell me there was another reason behind this being only 3 instead of
8 or 16 bits, right ?

Flac multi channel
Hi Guys,
I know that FLAC format is currently limited to 8 channels but I was
wondering if this hard limitation of the format
or if it can be easily circumvented if the flac library is compiled with
other settings and/or the software using it don't mind it
Thanks !

Me, the grouser?
Hi everyone,
after attempting to correct Ivo's statement about Theora and Vorbis
being the "default codecs" in the HTML 5 draft, I just got the following
mail off list:
"Why are you still here? And by here I mean the Xiph lists. I've seen
you speaking ill of our formats and of free software more than in one
occasion. So, for what purpose do you still stick around? What

My Flash 10 attempt
Hi everybody,
after hearing about the new Sound functionality in Flash 10, Arek's
performance gain using the new Vector type instead of Array and not at
least actually seeing the performance boost he achieved compared to my
old Vorbis decoder, I found a few hours yesterday to migrate my old code.
First of all: the new PCM playback API for Flash is rather restricted
and only allows 44.1

Support for ultra-high sample rates?
Isn't the FLAC encoder 'tuned' for the compression of audio data at
common sample rates anyway? Does it make sense to use FLAC to compress
arbitrary analog data at very high sample rates as opposed to other
general purpose compression algorithms?

[LLVMdev] Cross compile LLVM using gcc (powerpc and x86)
...annot create executables.
----------------------------
I can clearly see that it is looking for libc in /lib but should be in /usr/lib and I haven't managed to control that.
I just wanted to send an email here before I start to hack it to much, hoping for some replies on this.
Kind regards

J-Ogg is available
...rbis and icecast support only is less than 30kB!
Drawbacks:
- The applet requires a Java Runtime Environment version 1.3 (or newer).
- Decoding requires a relatively fast CPU. A 128kbps Vorbis stream would
probably need something like a Pentium 150MHz to decode in realtime.

Drupal/MySQL performance in Xen and OpenVZ
...tend to overbook their host capacitiy. This is
not an issue for us since we host our own VPSs on our own hardware so we are
in complete control.
So: Is there any reason Xen may be able to outperform OpenVZ for the
webserver-setup I have described, or should I just continue to use OpenVZ?
Cheers,
Einar

insert select statements from different database
Hello,
i want to insert a select field into my form.
The fields of the select-field should come from a database that is
created in a different modell in the same project.
I don´t need relations simply the content from one field in the table
that should populate the select-field.
How can i do this?
The selected item from the select-field will then be saved amoung other
fields in a second database

Lustre buffer cache causes large system overhead.
We have just discovered that a large buffer cache generated from traversing a
lustre file system will cause a significant system overhead for applications
with high memory demands. We have seen a 50% slowdown or worse for
applications. Even High Performance Linpack, that have no file IO whatsoever
is affected. The only remedy seems to be to empty the buffer cache from memory
