model-based question-better readable version
...and Variable Selection" (www.stat.washington.edu/Raftery)showed that we can compare different classification methods using BIC
statistic. For diabetes dataset the best model is VVV model with 3 classes- for this model the BIC curve reaches the highest value and the error rate=12%
BIC curve for EII model~k-means is much under the VVV model curve and the error rate equals 18%, so k-means (EII) is worse then VVV, what is clear for me.

MCLUST Covariance Parameterization.
Hello all (especially MCLUS users).
I'm trying to make use of the MCLUST package by C. Fraley and A. Raftery. My problem is trying to figure out how the (model) identifier (e.g, EII, VII, VVI, etc.) relates to the covariance matrix. The parameterization of the covariance matrix makes use of the method of decomposition in Banfield and Rraftery (1993) and Fraley and Raftery (2002) where
Sigma_k = lambda_k*D_k*A_k*D_k^'
where Sigma_k is the covariance matrix for the kth (...

-means, hybrid clustering or similar implementations on R
Hi,
I would like to know if someone knows an extended implementation of k-means in R to find appropriate number of clusters for a given k-dimensional data.
Also, I am working on clustering for forecasting, if someone is interested or has knowledge on implementational details please mail me, I would appreciate it.

Bind Failed on Port 139
I installed Samba 2.0.0 on a P100 running SlackWare Linux 96 (Kernel
2.0.0). After running configure, make, make install, and testparm, I
thought I was all ready to start up the smbd daemon. So I typed in
smbd -D -d 50
Got back a failure listing in the error log.

2 Rails Applications sharing same login system
Hi i have 2 seperate rails applications. They both share the same login
system.
If someone is logged into application 1 then they should be able to
start using application 2 without logging in again. I am unsure how to
achieve this.
I''ve a feeling i can somehow do it by telling both the apps to share a
cookie, but i''m not sure.
Does anyone know how to do this or has anyone
