Comparing a 4-point and 5-point Likert scale
...ld be to multiply the scores in the first question by
4 (to get results that are either 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20) and then
multiply the second question by five to get responses that are either
5, 10, 15 or 20. My idea is then to add the two, average them and use
that value as an index of economic egalitarianism?
Yes / no? Suggestions?
I am an R user and I hope that a purely statistical question is not
especially misplaced.

following up on infinite email server loop
just to add to ted's explanation in case it helps to fix the email
server problem: below are the two Recipients and one of the two is
always contained in the repeated emails that I'm receiving. Also, of
course i don't mean to claim that the names contained in below are
doing anything to cause the problem . VEC Operator is just an example.
There are 3 or 4 others that repeat

Re: ext3 / ext4 on USB flash drive?
Agh. This is great to have some of this clarified, Ted. It does
unfortunately reinorce my cynicism. But it also fills my heart. That
is, though it might be bad news to hear that I have most likely bought
a piece of crap, and that there's no way I can really tell what's
inside the cover unless either I do some kind of low-level alchemy of
a kind that mere users would normally be well

ext3 / ext4 on USB flash drive?
I think this is really an attempt at user feedback, rather than user
discussion. But there's no such thing as a user-feedback mail list.
Nevertheless, others may find this pertinent: why doesn't mke2fs
handle USB's competently? And if it does, why doesn't it reassure me
so? And how can I handle a linux-formatted USB flash drive in the
absence of my system giving me any guidance?

VEC Operator in R
Can anyone please tell whether there is any R function to act as "VEC" and
"VECH" operator on Matrix? Yes of course, I can write a
user-defined-function for that or else, I can put dim(mat) <- NULL. However
I am looking for some R function.
Your help will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
