Is there any piece of software that I can use to run between a client and a linux or windows server with a smb/cifs share that will test network speed, latency, sustained read/writes, multiple file create, read, write, close, etc.. etc.. over X period time? I'm testing a Centos server with samba and Windows 2k3/8 servers on the other end of a T1 connection and while I know the T1 bandwidth

I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully accessed shares. I just can't figure out where the password database is located: [root@box ~]# service smb start [root@box ~]# setsebool samba_enable_home_dirs on [root@box ~]#

Just curious, is anyone using Samba 4.0 alpha releases in a production environment and how is it working for you? I run an environment of about 500+ Windows XP on a Netware environment and have considerable Samba 3.0 experience, but I'd like to use GPO's to control and clean up a lot of previous tech support problems.
