I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully accessed shares. I must be missing something somewhere. I can't get our Samba server to show up when I look in Network Neighborhood under XP. If I type in \\servername\path, it won't find it, however if I use the IP, it works fine. Now, experience tells me that I'm having to type the IP because it's not resolving the name. I am looking at options for VPN connections from iPhones and iPod Touches to CentOS systems. We use OpenVPN for connections with Windows, Mac OS X, and other Linux systems, but there don't appear to be any OpenVPN clients for iPhones (presumably because there are no tun/tap interfaces available yet). Hi I'm trying to upgrade from Samba 3.0.23c on FC4 to 3.0.25b from Samba sources. Everything appears to function correctly until an MS word document is opened from a share - the file opens but the smbd process in question rockets to 99%+ CPU, stays there & needs kill -9'ing to stop it.
