Re: Darwine Can't See CUPS Printers
How do I know which edible ink cartridges to get for my printer? I'm a cake deco hobbyist and I want to start printing photo cakes for friends and family. The edible photo systems online look pretty expensive, but I hear that you can buy a cheap Canon printer and then just buy the edible inks and paper. But how will I kn...

GLMM random effects
...the mark-recapture data we estimated density using Program DENSITY for each study plot and for each session (a total of 4 density estimates for each 18 plots over time). We also did vegetation sampling to obtain estimates of the natural food available in each plot, which gave us total biomass and % edible vegetation as covariates. We are using the lme4 package in program R (2.11.1) for analysis: We fitted a GLMM with Laplace restricted maximum likelihood estimation. Since our response variable density is a count with overdispersion we used a corrected poisson distribution with a log link function....

Performance Problems with Samba 2.0.3
Hello all, Since 2 or 3 days I have some performance problems when copying files from/to my Samba server. Copying is very slow, about 10x more than normal, and the CPU usage is almost 100% during the file copy. Everything else works fine (NFS, FTP ...). This server has been running for several weeks now, and never had any problems. Any clues what could cause this ? Thanks Marco Schwarz.

My mathematical skills were not up to the task of proving that it couldn't happen, so experiment seemed like a good idea. First I read in the Mushroom data (8124 rows x 23 columns) and deleted column 1 (the poisonous/edible class, to be predicted, not clustered on) and column 17 (which has the same value in each row). "mush" is the resulting data frame. cramer <- function (x, y) { # x and y are factors of the same length. # cramer(x, y) is Cramer's V, measuring the association between x and y...
