Is it just me, or is Ruby exploding?
...ut Java altogether. Places in the greater Miami area are turning on to Rails and Ruby -- much of it fueled by the stronger voices in the local Java community. Am I alone in this, or do many of you see absolutely explosive growth in Ruby, Rails and all things Web 2.0ish right now? I see that Bruce Eckel is coming around. When he wrote his article bashing Ruby a few weeks ago, I knew he was on the verge of being hooked. First you hate her, then you glance at her, then you are in her arms. Ruby, that goddamn seductress! Mike Pence http://groups.google.com/group/laszlo-on-rails

bind (named) compromised?
I'm having problems where my upstream bandwidth is being saturated. I've narrowed it down to a DNS issue of some type. If I stop the named service then my bandwidth drops to "normal" according to my untangle firewall. I'm running bind-9.3.6-20.P1.el5_8.6. I'm seeing the following in /var/log/messages: 2014-02-08T23:03:09.558315-05:00 mailserver named[3497]: network

One Windows 2k3 server which joined into a AD, and when I tried to copy some files the owner ship of which contails both domain user/group sid and local user/group sid information, to samba server, only domain sid information could be kept, and the windows local user/group sid info was dropped. I verifyed this by using "xcopy /O

SIP Client in Rails App
Hey, do you think it could be possible to integrate a SIP or IAX client into a Rails app to use it for VoIP calls directly from the web page by clicking a link without having to download a 3rd party client? Is there any other solution than an activeX control to access the microphone? Do you have made experience with a free minimalistic applet or activeX control? Greets -- Posted via

How much Ruby?
I bought the pickaxe about 1 1/2 months ago, and I have been reading through it and learning Ruby in my spare time. I''m about 200 pages into it, and I''m starting to think I don''t need to know all of the in''s and out''s of Ruby to get a good hang on Rails. How much Ruby do I really need to be proficient in Rails? Ruby is a great language, I love it, but
