Repeated measures cummulative logit mixed model
Dear R help gurus, I have the following problem and I would be delighted if you could help me. >From a large (1500) cohort of patients we have been taking some measurements (ECG measurements, but its not important). The measurements are ordinal in 4 grades (Grade I-IV, grade IV being the most severe form). Every patients has been measured several times (usually once per year). The follow-ups are different for each patient (ranging from days to several years), thus some pat...

Best package for time series analysis with wavelets???
Hi!! I'm looking for a package in R for time series analysis using wavelets( I'm interested on extractingt information from electrocardiograms with the aim of study the heart rate variability) so i want to know which package is the best for me. I've thinking about using some of those(you can recommend me others,xD): *wavelets: A package of funtions for computing wavelet filters,

Fourier Analysis Help
Dear R-help members, To whom it may concern, our research group is conducting a study to evaluate the predictive value of 24 hour blood pressure variability. We are looking for an R routine that performs a fast Fourier transform spectral analysis (with an output of the approximation function of the Fourier and estimates the validity of the model for the various harmonics). Thanks Vittorio

I did make it compile after a lot of effort, but it crashed R on

EGCS optimizer bug?
The current development version dies in qbeta() when compiled with egcs -O, egcs 1.0.2 and glibc 2.0.7 (RedHat versions). Since this also kill the F and t distributions, it doesn't exactly do wonders for R's usefulness... Anyone else seeing this or has my setup just gone out of whack? It does look pretty much like a clear compiler bug when inlining math functions (storing temporaries

R-beta: R with gnuwin32
...great. Last week, I downloaded the binary Ms Windows version. I wanted to test it for my students. Our labs are under Bill Gates. I am not happy but I can do nothing. R worked. But, I could not use the dyn.load command with some dll built with one of the ports of gcc for windows 95/nt (I used the ecgs-mingw32 ports http://www.xraylith.wisc.edu/~khan/software/gnu-win32). The same dll's work with Xlisp-Stat. Then, I rebember something posted by Luke Tierney somewhere about dll's and the Watcom compiler. I took a look to his pages and found out that perhaps the problem is not ecgs but W...

FFT, frequs, magnitudes, phases
Hi, I'm in dire need of a fast fourier transformation for me stupid biologist, i.e. I have a heartbeat signal and would like to decompose it into pure sin waves, getting three vectors, one containing the frequencies of the sin waves, one the magnitudes and one the phases (that's what I get from my data acquisition software's FFT function). I'd be very much obliged, if someone

Dear All, discussing with a statistician of a pharmaceutical company I received this answer about the statistical package that I have planned to use: As R is not a validated software package, we would like to ask if it would rather be possible for you to use SAS, SPSS or another approved statistical software system. Could someone suggest me a 'polite' answer? TIA Giovanni -- dr.

Printing Issues with NT type Clients.
Hi. To begin with, I have a freshly built RedHat Linux 8.0 box running samba 2.2.8a. The kernel version is 2.4.18-14. I downloaded and compiled samba from source. I am using LPRng-3.8.9-6 as my printing system. The attached printer is a Lexmark Z22 printer and it is attached to the parralel port. Problem: For the life of me, I can't get NT type clients, NT4, 2K and XP to print to samba.

Can't get authentication for masterusers on Mac OS X Server 10.6.8

I've tried to get an answer on the Apple Forums but til now no luck....here we go: I've tried to sync our users emails (Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with dovecot 1.1.20-apple0.5) via imapsync to our new server by using the masterusers authentication method on the old
