Tagging Flac-files in GNU/Linux and Windows
....1.1 of the FLAC plugin, the ? and ?
characters had changed to some strange characters (I don't remember
exactly they were). I then tried editing the tags using the 1.1.1 version,
but it could not save the ? an ? characters, it immediately changed them
to those strange charachters. I then tried Easytag 1.0, in that the ? and
? characters just disappeared, and were not replaced by anything. In
Easytag 1.9 tagging worked, and with that I mean it could read what it had
written itself, just like the 1.1.0 version of the XMMS plugin. But tags
written by Easytag 1.9 were not displayed correctly in usin...

[Patch] for easytag tag editor to add speex tagging
Hi All,
The following patch is for the http://easytag.sourceforge.net/ software

http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/vorbis-tools/vorbiscomment/

"Last changed" timestamp is ignored?
...fers. This happens when the size and modify timestamp are equal. Why
doesn't rsync consider the "last changed" timestamp in the same respect
as the modify timestamp? Doesn't changed mean, er, changed?
I noticed this when editing some Ogg Vorbis tags with a tag editing
program (Easytag). The size and modify timestamp remained the same, with
only the "last changed" timestamp being different. The updates were not
transferred because rsync saw that the size and modify time were the
same, and concluded the file did not need updating, despite the "last
changed"...

Support for tags in speex files?
...comments (ie. similar to Ogg Vorbis files).
Thanks, that is nice, but you left me with a question: is it possible
to have speex files in an ogg container? I looked a bit on the
documentation of speexenc and could find no mention of it (I'm using
Debian's testing distribution and the superb easytag as a tag
manager).
> speexenc --comment "MOOD=Happy" speech1234.wav speech1234.spx
Does this mean that, in case I wrap the file into an Ogg container, it
will have two layers of "containment"?
Thank you very much for your kind answer, Rog?rio Brito.

newlines in vorbis comments
Is there any way to put a newline character in comments for ogg
vorbis files in Linux? I can't see any way of doing it with
vorbiscomment. Easytag would work, but has other problems
(like concatenating comment fields with the same tag name).
If I wanted to put together a quick hack to add a such a comment

Looking at the xsl doc status.xsl I some some nice variables I can
use. For some reason I don't seem to be able to pull out the comment
tag from the ogg file. I used to easytag to add this so i know it
exists.
These appear to work
<xsl:value-of select="artist" /> -
<xsl:value-of select="title" />
These don't do shite - but my id tag has em

Support for tags in speex files?
...files?
I have a good amount of spoken audio (currently in MP3 format) and I
would like to convert it to speex, since it seems to be the best choice
for voice recordings.
Unfortunately, without tags, it is quite hard to identify the speeches.
Ideally, I would love if tag support were included into easytag, so that
I can manipulate everything with just Free Software.
Thanks in advance, Rog?rio Brito.

Where should I put an Bugreport of OggEnc
...^
If this "european characters" are inside the track information, then
OggEnc v1.0.2 repleced them by an "#". The Filename is fine, but the
tag is always wrecked.
Encoding with Lame is Okay. Those charakters are well done.
With oggenc I have to repair all tracks with easytag. :-(

Forefox on C7 - uses wrong program to view download folder
I've got a C7 laptop using the default repo's (installed plus epel).
My firefox has decided to use the wrong program to view the downloads
folder.
If I download and save a file, then click on the Downloads icon and
click on view folder containing the file, it opens the MP3 editor
EasyTag instead of Dolphin or Konquror.
How do I change it back.

tags, having some problems....
Have a problem with flac tags,...
need to clean up 100's of .flac tags....
example:
(1)_Buff & the Skylights - Wishing You.flac
07 have a great day.flac
^^Love for ever - Muffin Men.flac
(spaces)
As you can see, there are allot of problems,
and I don't have the time to hand tag each .flac file.

is there ANY thing for Linux, that can ( RE-tag )
.flac files, ie: do a lookup

Damaged tags in XMMS
Hi,
I just copied 15 GB of Music from my Slackware install over to my laptop
running CentOS. Everything's running fine, except a few minor quirks.
About 10 to 15% of the 4.000 songs in my collection seem to have broken
ID3 tags in XMMS. In the playlist window, there are only truncated
fields of a few random letters appearing.
But when I right-click on one of these songs, the ID3 info is
