iTunes?
Hi All, If you would please suffer a Fedora Code 13 question on a CentOS mailing list, I have a Linux customer with Fedora Code 13 who loves it but is about to dump it because he really, really wants iTunes. (He owns an iPod and an iPhone.) None of the Linux utilities quite work right and he wants to buy music from the iTunes store as well. Plus he wants to synchronize his contacts list. So, I

Q: periodically_call_remote ( how to make it execute just once? )
I posted this ealier on the web forums but noticed a similar question about this function and one user responded to try this list instead. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Q: Is there a way to use periodically_call_remote to run just one time instead of every '':frequency'...

date of new directories
Does rsync-2.5.5 (and ealier versions) seems to have a problem with an open socket? I finally figured out which socket to exclude. Now I get an mknod error message the first time I run rsync and the second time it runs to completion. I did know of a netstat (I think) that would show the open sockets, but I have to admit I f...

Bricks not starting after restart node
...e Can not Reach The Brick (Health info reported "Transport endpoint not connected") In both cases it helps to stop and restart the volume (gluster volume stop, gluster volume start). Sometimes you even have to do this twice! But this should be no soluton in a productive scenario. For ealier releases there was a bug posted here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1333711 It seems to be that this bug is still an issue? Does anybody has some experience with that issue? Spotlight configuration trouble
Hi Louis, I used your excellent packages but also tried building from source. I?m trying to get Tracker working. Elasticsearch was simpler to get going but it doesn?t really suite the use case due to limitations in fscrawler. I actually created the mdssvc user but also tried directly under root once the dedicated user didn?t work. The problem might be somewhere in D-Bus configuration but I

lme4/Matrix: Call to .Call("mer_update_y"...) and LMEoptimize gives unexpected side effect...
Dear all I want to compute Monte Carlo p-values in lmer-models based on sampled data sets. To speed up calculations, I've tried to use internal functions from the Matrix package (as suggested ealier on the list by Doug Bates). So I did: fm2 <- lmer(resistance ~ ET + position + (1|Grp), Semiconductor, method='ML') simdata<-simulate(fm2,nsim=1) ynew <- simdata[,1] mer <- fm2 .Call("mer_update_y", mer, ynew, PACKAGE = "Matrix") mer1u <- LMEopti...

ggplot2 will not draw a rectangle. Error: ggplot2 doesn't know how to deal with data of class XXX"
What am I missing? When I run the code below I get the error message "Error: ggplot2 doesn't know how to deal with data of class function" Googling suggests a message of "Error: ggplot2 doesn't know how to deal with data of class XXX" is not uncommon but I don't see why I am getting a "function" error unless I am using some reserved word?

Debian Packages for Samba 4.8?
...g these wonderful samba debian packages for us :-) > > Is there a reason, that you didnt create packages for samba 4.8? I think the reason for Louis not offering 4.8.0 deb package is probably the same for us. There is a still a bug in 4.8 when you do an "in place" upgrade from ealier Samba version [1]. This bug has been addressed by the Samba team and the fix included in the upcoming 4.8.1. And by this time it will be more suitable to have up-to-date package for people to use. Indeed it is not a good thing to have ready to use packages to help people shoot themself in the f...
