HVM guest support unavailable
Hi, when I try to start a hvm the well known error message "Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?" appears. I am using an Intel E8400 on Asus P5E VM DO Board. /proc/cpuinfo info shows that the CPU has vmx support. I have enabled "Vanderpool Technology" in BIOS. According to the xen user manual the package dev86 is needed. I am using Ubuntu 7.10. There is no dev86 package, but bin86 and bcc should work according to htt...

Photoshop CS2 and Memory + Image Cache issue
Hi guys, I have a DUO CORE E8400 (3.0 ghz) and 4 gigs RAM (800mhz) Currently using WINE 1.0 and Photoshop CS2... My issue is how we can increase the limit of the memory ram in my Photoshop preferences panel under Memory and Image Cache from 2 gigs to 4 gigs RAM? It doesn't seem to realize I have 4 gigs ram? Cheers!

Screen Corruption in directory trees in foobar2000
Hi I've just built a new Ubuntu 9.04 system on an Asus P5Q-EM board (intel G45/X4500) with E8400 Core Duo 2 chip. I installed WINE and then foobar2000 but notice that the explorer tree in the Album List and Preferences window quite often become corrupt. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25525287 at N08/3515171090/ Anybody got any ideas why this might be happening? VT-d "partial" success - passing DVB-S tuner to Windows DomU (based off previous thread of similar name!)
...;'ve got a DVB-S PCI Express card ($30 USD Twinhan AD-SE200 off eBay) that''s being passed via VT-d/pciback in Xen 3.2.1 under CentOS 5.2 to a Windows XP SP3 which works! ... except for one small issue... Motherboard is an Intel DQ35JO that much people has had success with and an Intel E8400 CPU. The issue is that when dealing with FTA MPEG-2 transport streams (DVB-S based @ Galaxy 25 @ 97.0W), all is well until I start putting a slight I/O (whether disk or otherwise) load under dom0.  The issue is very similar and indicative of TV tuner cards and other PCI devices which have poorly m...

Xen boots to blank screen
...o solve it. I am relatively new to Linux, compounding my problem. I just built a new machine for the express purpose of running Xen so my girlfriend and I could experiment and learn about different Linux distros. I am running on an Intel DG35EC motherboard using integrated graphics and a Core 2 Duo E8400. I do not have a dedicated video card. I installed openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i586.iso which I had burned to DVD. I chose to add Xen during installation. I have not installed any upates of anything from the web since installation. I am able to boot normally into openSUSE and everything works fine. When I...

Tripp-Lite USB constantlly disconnecting.
Soon as I get back to that computer I will let you know which kernel version. Both were just recently installed, Fedora was installed specifically for this actually, though updates have been applied. I've tried it with other USB ports already across 5 different machines. I've also swapped out the USB cable for another one that I knew worked fine. I'll see what I can do about

Is there a way to force wine to use more memory?
Hello. I've noticed that some games(like Witcher) need more ram to use. Problem is that I've got 4gb (3,5) but after playing a while wine is crashing when memory riches 1,6 or 1,7 GB. Obviously when you change some settings to low it runs longer, but some games just look great with full settings on(like Witcher:) ) What I want to ask is that : Is there a way to force wine with some

Dmesg log for 2.6.31-rc8 kernel been built on F12 (rawhide) vs log for same kernel been built on F11 and installed on F12
Previous 2.6.31-rc8 kernel was built on F11 and installed with modules on F12. Current kernel has been built on F12 (2.6.31-0.204.rc9.fc12.x86_64) and installed on F12 before loading under Xen 3.4.1. Dmesg log looks similar to Michael Yuong''s ''rc7.git4''  kernel for F12. Boris. --- On Tue, 9/8/09, Boris Derzhavets <bderzhavets@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Boris
