Odd Virsh Capabilities response
...r host that we threw in the rack to facilitate some server reshuffling. Migration complained about lack of capabilities (which I expected its an older server) but when I looked at what I should throw into the xml file I got a core2duo when it should have been at least Penryn or something (Xeon E5345) Of course the VMs work fine with that cpu def so its not a bit deal at the moment, but I am still curious Is it some sort of lookup table bug or is the server BIOS wonky? ----------------------------------------------------------- OS: Up to date U16 Xenial on an HP DL380 server. GPLPV 0.10.0.69 Blue Screen 0x0000007B
Trying to install them on Xen 3.4.0, Intel E5345 Processors, Server 2008 64bit. I get the BSoD on boot with the 0x0000007B stop message. I''ve got a bunch of 2003 32bits running on the same host with the 0.10.0.69 drivers and those are totally happy. I tried the boot once with NOGPLPV idea mentioned in another thread, that didn'...

Looking at the capabilities, it could also be Conroe, it even has the same family and model. But it has the same number of matching features for bo...

Hardware Requirements for qdisc htb/sfq
I am planning to replace our cisco 7200 core router with Linux. We currently serve around 1500 (3/4 DSL - different router) customers with probably half of them being concurrent at any given time. We have a fiber network and customers currently aren''t managed as far as how much bandwidth they can use at anytime. Therefore I have constructed a working tc qdisc Linux router as a test. It

CPU and FBDIMM thermal monitoring
I'm running Centos5 x86_64 on an ASUS DSBV-DX/SAS mainboard with a Xeon E5345 quad core CPU. The mainboard BIOS shows me all the thermal information about CPU and the FBDIMMs as well as the fan rotation speeds. ACPI is set to version 3.0 in the BIOS. Under Centos5 I can't see any of these information under /proc/acpi/thermal_zone. This directory is just empty. Do I have...

Very high cpu due to cups. Samba 3.5.2 ok though.
Hi, We're seeing this at the moment. It's quite a beefy box and we can't see any reason why cups is running so high: 4 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz rpm -q cups cups-1.3.7-11.el5_4.6 rpm -q samba3 samba3-3.5.2-43.el5 Samba is from sernet and is running with an OpenLDAP backend in full domain mode with about 100 users and about 12 printers. top - 14:28:21 up 21:07, 5 users, load average: 1.35, 1.07, 1.13 Tasks: 274 total, 2 r...

(OT) Where can I find a PERC Simulator?
Hello and apologies for being off-topic, but this is my last option! I've been looking for a PERC simulator to help with training, but for the life of me, I cannot find it anywhere on the internet! I even called Dell to see if they can offer me a download link to no avail. I know there is one somewhere as I've seen screenshots of it *[0]*! If anyone has it and is willing to help,

Virtualization platform choice
Some may be bored with the subject - sorry... Still not decided about virtualization platform for my "webhotel v2" (ns, mail, web servers, etc.). KVM would be a natural way to go, I suppose, only it is too bad CentOS 6 will not be out in time for me - I guess KVM would be more mature in CentOS 6. Any experience with the free "VMware vSphere Hypervisor"?. (It was formerly

Hello Mongrels, Building on the last messages about Fastthread, can we get a detailed survey of the different ways people are deploying their applications? It will help with near-future Mongrel development. Please include the following things: * Framework, if any (Camping, Merb, Rails, Nitro, Ramaze, IOWA, Rack...) * Mongrel version * Mongrel handlers used (rails, dirhandler, camping,

New binary release of GPL PV drivers for Windows
I''ve just uploaded a new binary release of the GPL PV drivers for Windows - release 0.6.3. Fixes in this version are: . Should now work on any combination of front and backend bit widths (32, 32p, 64). Previous crashes that I thought were due to Intel arch were actually due to this problem. . The vbd driver will now not enumerate ''boot'' disks (eg those normally serviced
