Migrating from uw-imapd to dovecot
We recently switch from up-imapd to dovecot But many users are reporting that they cannot access certain mail folders. The log file has: imap(dws): Sep 14 00:06:19 Error: File isn't in mbox format: /home/research/dws/mail/TaskDL The files in the logs are "MBX mail folders", not "ASCII English text" as are the folders that can be read under Outlook. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? This is a serious problem in s...

WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk installations. Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from access point to access point while on a call? Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

...es -c Secondary -d/dev/null -s/bin/false -n pinguim$ smbpasswd -a -m pinguim$ The entry on /etc/smbpasswd was added and everything looked ok Then on samba secondary server I follow the step: smbpasswd -j EDUTECJF -r EDUTECLINUX And joined the domain as expected :) I have one user called "dws" on the samba PDC and one called "koala" on samba secondary server. On PDC there is the creation of logonscripts "on the fly", but its not working with samba secondary server running. The user dws logs but do not execute the .bat The user koala logs but do no execute the...

is dns required for windows domain?
...doc, except I don't manage DHCP or DNS on my home network. I'm trying to test this setup without it. also, the instructions are for samba 3.0.20 but i'm using 3.0.13-1 (on SUSE 9.3). http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/small.html my win xp pro does not join the domain (DWS) and gives me this error; <snip> The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DWS Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS. - O...

permissions and properties of printers
Hello, I am having problems with all my clients (windows 2K and 9x) that don't have rights to modify printer settings, like tray or page size. At least the problem is consistent across all machines! ;) They can not print 11x17 pages, they can not change from defaults. We set things up rather quickly without much attention to detail and are paying for it now. The print drivers were installed

Floating-point arithmetic
...ad not met before: What Every Computer Scientist Should Know About Floating-Point Arithmetic, by David Goldberg, originally published in the March, 1991 issue of Computing Surveys. PDF and HTML versions are widely available on the web (see Google), e.g. at http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~dws/grouplinks/floating_point_math.pdf Though over the years I've many times been there, done that, got bitten by the bugs, and bought the T-shirt [I have one from Florida depicting a large and joyful mosquito with proboscis dripping with blood] I still found this a revealing read, written in a st...

Lets try this push again.. 2.5.1p2 bugs left.
Things that are still outstanding: 1) Solaris/Redhat/HPUX session.c patch. I've not seen a ya or na on Kevin's pam patch from the Solaris group. 2) Odd Redhat/Debian scp/ssh issues. .. I'm baffled, and I can't replicate the bug. Nor have I seen anything remotely like it reported. 3) SCO.. Is it happy yet for compiling? =) Completed: 1) mdoc2man.pl .. Commited into

one is not one
Folks, I have got a strange behaviour when testing this: sum(x) != 1 let us set x<-c(70,134,1,5,0) and transform it in a vector of probabilities x<-x/sum(x) One expect sum(x) should be equal to 1, which is apparently the case > sum(x) [1] 1 However, when I try to test it I get: > if(sum(x) !=1) print("lost") else ("OK") [1] "lost" Which means
