Adding patch to Centos Kernel - early build failure
Hi Guys
I'm trying to add the patch mentioned in this thread to the plain Centos
kernel
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2008-August/062845.html
I've followed the directions on the wiki for building a custom kernel,
but after applying all the patches it fails with:
make[1]: *** [nonint_oldconfig] Error 4
make: *** [nonint_oldconfig] Error 2

Which box?
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm not finding an answer
anywhere. Do I need a dedicated box to run asterisk, or can I put in my
server (running Fedora) and leverage some of the free cpu cycles and
disk space? Thanks,
Dunc

file size and actually blocks do not match
I have a disk where serveral files have a file size that is much bigger
then the space they actually use. THe file size is bogus. In the example
below, the size is reported as 4.2MB but the file is really supposed to be
on 116K which is true accoring to du and the block list from debugfs.
However, doing a 'cat |wc' file actually gives me 4.2MB bytes. Where are
those extra bytes coming

confidence interval of a average...
I have a sample of lung capacities from a population measured against
height. I need to know the 95% CI of the lung capacity of a person of
average height.
I have fitted a regression line.
How do I get a minimum and maximum values of the 95% CI?
My thinking was that this has something to do with covariance, but how?
My other thinking was that I could derive the 0.975 (sqrt 0.95) CI for the

Bandwidth
Assuming I'm using a VOIP provider of some sort, what kind of bandwidth
requirements / line should I expect to have in place? I currently have
8 traditional voice lines, and a FAX line that doubles as my DSL
source. Ballpark, what do I need to have in place to move everything to
asterisk?

Maildir Cleanup
Hi all,
I found an article (with python script) on how to
clean up Maildir folder
for old email messages from
http://www.ducea.com/2006/11/25/cleanup-maildir-folders-archive-delete-old-mails/
. As I understand, this will be run by each user
after login. How can I make this runs at least once a
month and
delete all users message with age more than one month
for example using crontab? I am using

Other apps checking Day/Night
I'm fairly new to Asterisk, so please bear with me if this is silly
question. I'd like to run a script on my server that would take the
"Call now to order" banner off my website automatically when I put my
phone system on night. I can handle the webserver side of things, but I
don't know where to begin on the Asterisk side of things - can a simple
script be run to

Can't get things running
I'm new to wine, and I don't seem to be able to get any of my apps
running. I configured Wine on Fedora Core 3 with Winetools. Wine is
working, I can run the builtin Win apps, and my Win installers all run
but post install I'm not making much progress. My first app (Ckpp.exe),
which appeared to install fine pops up a dialog box saying:
DDE requires ddeml.dll

Why should the systemd monolithic bloatware be shoved into the kernel,
especially when you claim the kernel has "over four million lines of
code!" ?
Seems like a tactical

Code reviews: my dumb use of acts_as_commentable (newbie)
With the help of several heroes here yesterday I beat my way into a
working solution to adding comments to one or more models in my
application using acts_as_comentable. Great plugin, but my
implementation is lame. I need enlightenment.
I have users who log in. For several views I want to let them add
comments. Enter act_as_commentable which does just this -- it''s
polymorphic, so you

[LLVMdev] Porting LLVM backend is no fun yet
...target code be generated. I guess a deeper understanding of Target
classes is mandatory before proceeding to use TableGen.
I guess what would help would be a tutorial that shows how one goes
about writing a back-end for a fictitious target machine - something
similar to "Porting GCC for Dunces" (http://ftp.axis.se/pub/users/hp/pgccfd/pgccfd.pdf
). Also a pre-made "Dummy" back-end that had some basic instructions
would also go a long way in helping someone write a back-end.

Trackmania NF 2.11.11 fails to start in Wine 1.1.28
I'm a new user of Ubuntu 9.04 and have installed Wine 1.1.28. Have not been able to get Trackmania Nations Forever 2.11.11 to start despite the AppDB indicating it should be fine.
Installer worked fine, but program crashes on startup with an error message saying "Application has encountered a serious error and needs to close". Dump file indicates an unhandled exception. First

I have a server (A) with a directory structure I want to copy to another
server (/usr/local/bin...)
On the client (B), only /usr exists (/usr/local doesn't).
I used:

--rsync-path=/opt/PKGrsync/bin/rsync --exclude=save -v -v /usr/local/bin
B:/usr/local/bin
but it failed with:

g729 passthrough?
I'm sitting here with my dunce cap on. My weak excuse is that I haven't
ever played with g729 before.
I have a Sipura 841. I have the phone config set to use g729. Its
appropriate sip.conf entry, and the IAX stanza for my ITSP all set to
disallow=all, allow=g729.
But as soon as I dial, I get a complaint from the server:

nuby: do models have to inherit directly from ActiveRecord?
Hello,
I have a few models -- book, cd, dvd -- for which I''d like to have an
abstract base superclass to hold some common stuff. That abstract class, I
was thinking, would inherit from ActiveRecord.
Didn''t work, though, and looking around, I found this:

libxml error (or am I just being dumb?)
I've been trying to compile ices and icecast all night. I have narrowed
the problem down to libxml. I have tried several rpms of libxml2 and
libxml2-devel all to no avail. I don't expect support on this alpha
release but just a reply to say that it's a common issue or wether I am
just a dunce would be nice. :)
Thanks
Hans
