doveadm pw generates different hash each time it is invoked !?
I am absolutely dumbfounded by "doveadm pw". My understanding is that
the command should be used to create a hashed password that should in
turn be placed into /etc/dovecot/passwd
Here comes the "dumbfounded" part. I was creating a new virtual user,
running doveadm pw to generate the hashed password. Bu...

Difference Between R: wilcox.test and STATA: signrank
...7059.5, p-value = *0.09197*
alternative hypothesis: true location shift is not equal to 0
As you can see the p Values are different (one with H0 rejection and the
other one not). I tested whether it could be that the STATA one isn't paired
but this doesn't seem to be the problem.
I'm dumbfound what could lead to such a difference. I couldn't find any
seetings I have missed but I somehow I guess I'm using the function in the
wrong way...
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Problems upgrading from 2.2.7a to 3.0.2a
...ackground is gone, I get a message about "Could not
reconnect all network drives" (There are usually two drives mapped to the
server, Y and Z. The Z drive maps just fine. (Y maps to the 'public' shared
directory for all users, while Z maps to the users home directory).
I'm dumbfounded, so I click 'Start' to go into control panel, and another
suprise, the icons on the left side of XP's two sides start menu, are gone.
When I go to the display control panel, the theme box is entirely black, when
you try to change any settings, you get "Cannot access C:\Windows\&...

Auto-duplicate mailstore?
I am looking for something that is similar to replication, but without a second server. I currently have a system setup using postfix bcc to write out copies of all email, but what I would rather do is just have all the mail written to /usr/local/virtual/%u/Maildir and also to /backup/usr/local/virtual/%u/Maildir (for example) as this will make restoring messages much simpler.

VoicemailMain Issues
I am not sure what is going on, but * is restarting itself every time a
user hangs up after calling to check their voicemail. I am running
CVS-HEAD-07/26/04-22:14:48, and this problem just started happening
after I updated last night. I am rolling back to CVS-7/14/2004 so that
we can keep working, but we need to address the voicemail issue. I will

Version 1.0, HipZip, News
...e an exact date for
version 1.0 due to development schedules and what not, but it'd be handy
to have an easily accessible list somewhere of what major chunks
of coding remain before Version 1.0's release. Personally, I'm quite
content with the format as is. Encoding at 96k still gives
dumbfoundingly good quality and altogether I think you folks have done
an excellent job. Unfortunately, I can't play these anywhere but on a
computer. I ordered a HipZip, in spite of the mere 38MB per disk (tho
the media isn't overly expensive), having heard that when version 1.0 is
released so wil...

Access denied error when trying to join XP to Samba Domain
...I set about writing my own and
they almost work. The trouble is with the add machine script. The
first time I do the join, I get an access denied error message on
WinXP. I have verified that an entry for the machine was successfully
created in ldap. Then, I try again and, voila, it works. I am
dumbfounded as to why this is happening. Please find my script below.
Any insight would be appreciated.

More info on 3Ware 9550SX from the field (in case anyone else is interested)
From a buddy of mine that has spent a little time with the new cards.
This was in response to my email asking about his impressions of them:
It just came out in mid-September. There are a couple reasons I'm
not thrilled with it:
1) no 8-port multilane version (only 12)
2) the 8-port non-multilane version is a kludge, connector-wise (a row
of 3 double-stacked connectors along the

Certified Fraud Prep Exam
Hello everyone,
I am new to WINE, and it's abilities. I am trying to run a prep program that is designed for windows (obviously) and I am getting wicked errors. Sadly, the makes of the software have absolutely no knowledge of Linux. I got a direct x error, and fixed it via their solution. That lead to another error, and the vendor and I are working on this problem.
I could easily

I realize that some of the descriptions can be a bit vague, so if you want to post a link to the HID tutorial, I can try to describe what is going on

Developing the UPS side of the UPS-NUT equation (via usbhid)
Charles,
Thank you so much for the information. I'm trying to digest it along with the other docs I have, the example code from Microchip, and a USB HID tutorial I found online.
So, if I understand correctly.... When the device first connects, it sends a huge dump of data (which the usbhid driver shows when you use the debug option) which fully describes the data it is capable of sending.

PSTN Incoming call on real line disrupts VoIPcall over DSL circuit - EXPLAINED
DSL works by using the frequencies above 4k that were unused in POTS loops of yesterday. Load Coils, Bridge Taps, and DC taps are all devices added to lines to increase their reach and stability, unfortunately, they are DEADLY for DSL. Other problems can effect DSL service, and cause it to be 'flaky'.

I lost the RSpec fight
I''ve been working on a Rails project with one other developer; he was
using Test::Unit, and I was using RSpec. That works OK for a while, but
obviously it starts causing pain when you have to check in two places to
see if a piece of code is properly tested/spec''d, you can''t use TextMate
shortcuts to switch back and forth between code and test, you have to
