[LLVMdev] Dependence Analysis
Hi, everyone. I've been examining llvm for a while and been duly impressed. I'd like to contribute in the area of dependence analysis, and a good place to start seems to be in the transformation of pointers to explicit array accesses. Is anyone else working on this? If not, does this seem a plausible place to start and how would be the best way to go about it? Thanks, Naftali

Switching from Vesa driver to video adapter driver fails
The Vesa driver works fine with CentOS 4.4. I have an NVidia 6200 video adapter. I go to Applications | System Settings | Display | Hardware tab and find my video adapter in the list and set it. The dialog tells me I have to log out for it to take effect, so I duly do that. I then getting a message from a non-graphics screen saying that the attempt to switch to the video adapter failed. When

Bug#312376: /etc/logcheck/logcheck.ignore is no longer read
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.39 Severity: normal Since I've upgraded my servers to sarge, I'm getting mail every hour for stuff that was duly included in /etc/logcheck/logcheck.ignore. Turns out that sarge's version no longer reads that file. If this was a conscious decision, then there should be some warning about this when upgrading (via debconf of NEWS.Debian). Also, the

Superposing data on boxplot
Hi folks, I have a vaiable Y and an associated factor Z at several (13) levels. boxplot(Y~Z) produces a nice array of boxplots, one for each level of Z, and each duly labaelled with its level of Z. I would like to superpose on each boxplot the actual data points which it represents, i.e. do something conceptually (though not in real R) expressed as points(Y~Z) or points(Z,Y) It can

dovecot + pigeonhole on CentOS-7
I've everything running fine under CentOS-7, as far as I can tell, except that spam is not being diverted to my spam folder ~/Maildir/.Spam . I'm running postfix + spamass-milter + spamass-milter-postfix + dovecot (+ spamassassin), and spam is being duly marked before ending in my inbox . As far as I can see, the current advice is to leave filtering to dovecot, using the

OT: SysAdmin Stories
Hello, I'm compiling a collection of stories from the systems administrator trenches. They can be short or long, funny or about a particularly challenging problem or period, or even something that appeared very technically challenging and ended up being something very simple. Stories which are more political would be ok so long as they do not have an agenda or can be interpreted as a

Asterisk 1.0.9 long term stability <--thread hijack, why not reboot?
Disclaimer: Not a troll I'm curious as to this obsession with uptime is. All of the posts of this type are along the lines of "After X days, Y thing does not work but if I reload or reboot, it's OK" - so why not cron a reboot? Is it considered bad form or something like that? I reboot every night whether it is needed or not, not afraid to admit it, and everything works fine for

averaging a list of matrices element wise
Dear all, I have a list of n matrices which all have the same dimension (r x s). What would be a fast/elegant way to calculate the element wise average? So result[1, 1] <- mean(c(raw[[1]][1, 1] , raw[[2]][1, 1], raw[[...]][1, 1], raw[[n]][1, 1])) Here is my attempt. #create a dummy dataset n <- 3 r <- 5 s <- 6 raw <- lapply(seq_len(n), function(i){ matrix(rnorm(r * s), ncol =

As a complete newbie, I needed to use syslinux to do what it does. I duly went and downloaded syslinux_6.01.zip from https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/ Unzipped in Xp and tried the syslinux -xa drive letter: to get usb to work, it did not. After investigating the win32 folder there is no syslinux? Versions 5.01 and below have it , why has it been removed? All the online helps

Back when grub2 oozed into Fedora, I made a small page, both as a reminder for myself and to stop repeating answers on the Fedora forums. You probably don't need it, but just in case.

New users cannot log on, current users okay
I am having a problem with the Samba server that I run. Simply, new users added to the system cannot log on to the PC's that are controlled from the Samba server's domain. Users that are already on the system and have been working for some time seem to be unaffected. I suspect that the problem may well be related to the 'minor' problem we experienced with the server the other
