some websites cant be reached
I have an internet router powered by gentoo+shorewall2.0.7+adsl(pppoe)
but my clients(and gateway) cant access some websites----these sites
must be okay, other sites are okay. The I believe it is caused by MTU or
MSS, but I have no idea yet. Btw, the unaccessable sites are dynamic, it
says: today I cant access www.oracle.com nextday I redail--to get
another ip,I can access www.oracle.com.

SJPhone SIP Tab
Hi,
I'm following, http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+phone+sjphone.
However, I cannot find the SIP tab. Would someone please give me a few
pointers? The screen capture can be seen at URL below

Open source firmware on an ATA
Does anyone know of an ATA which has a modifieable (open source) firmware
AND that supports faxing.
Granted most of them don't do faxing well but that is more of a problem with
the network side.

Speakeasy VOIP + Asterisk?
...as anyone tried getting Speakeasy VOIP to work with Asterisk?
I just got Speakeasy DSL and am thinking of trying out their VOIP [1] with
the hope that the quality/stability will be better than broadvoice.
I searched in the usual places (voip-info.org, the asterisk users mailing
list archives [2], dslreports.com) and couldn't find anything. Any other
places I should look?
Thanks,
Simon

On purpose slow copy support?
I'd like to use rsync on a production box that has a great deal of
memory-cached filesystem in use at all times. Is there any way, or any
other tool, that will do a "slow" copy? purposefully not busting the
cache by copying things as fast as possible?
"nice" does not work, of course, as that is a cpu scheduling control.
What I want is basically lowest-priority or

jdg-qos & DSL
...!
i have a dsl connection with 1280 kbps for downstream and 256 kbps for upstream, and i want to manage the bandwidth to give high priority to voip traffic and low priority to p2p traffic. i found the script jdg-qos. i readed on this forum (i have a dsl-g604t router with MCMCC firmware)
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16250220
that the two parameters of the jdg-qos script (DWIFLIMIT and UPIFLIMIT) must be setted a few less than the theoric dsl''s downstream and upstream values (1280/256). but, how much few less?
what are the values i must assign to DWIFLIMIT and UPIFLIMIT?
thanks in adv...

I haven't been there in a while, but in the past, I've gotten a lot of
utility out of the DSLReports Forums[1]. There are private forums
that will put you in direct contact with technical people at your ISP.
It can sometimes be a good way to side-step the general customer
service hotline and get in touch with an actual engineer rather than a
script reader. Maybe not, but worst-case you're on...

Spotty internet connection
How do you IT guys diagnose the problem with a spotty internet connection?
Just spent an hour on the phone with TWC/Spectrum. Of course they don't see
anything wrong with their service.
They send me to speedtest.net. The first attempt, the page didn't fully
load, the second attempt, the page didn't load at all, the third attempt, it
loaded.
On a 20/2MB line I get 24.83/2.47MB. The

Primustel a.k.a. Lingo $20/month unlimited service
Hi all,
I just saw this article about this new offer from Lingo.com:
http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB20040607S0008
$20 monthly plan with unlimited local and long-distance calling in North
America (US & Canada) and Western Europe. Plus first three months free and
free equipment. It doesn't say what hardware they send you.
Sounds like a very good deal.
I searched the list and

Livevoip 800 Choppy Audio
I just signed up with livevoip for 800 DID and have very choppy audio. From
PSTN to my asterisk is ok but
asterisk to PSTN is terrible. I am using IAX and was assigned to server
iax01.nyc.*. I do not believe it is
a bandwidth problem on my end and I have no problems using iax with
gafachi. I opened a ticket with
livevoip but no response yet. Would I be better off using sip with them? Is

another Icecast2/Vorbis test stream
Greetings:
Yes, I've placed another test stream on-line. Thanks to the feedback
from members of this list, I've taken a few extra steps.
1) According to DSLReports, my uplink today is 137 kbps. It may
actually be a little faster, they say that Netscape's reporting is
skewed (and I use Netscape).
2) Thus, I've prepared a set of Ogg files encoded with -b 24 to fit
my available bandwidth. They don't sound very good (compared to the
