Samba 2.0 and MS Access DB
I installed samba on an Intel based Server running Red Hat 5.2. I can
access files on the shares I created but I run into a problem accessing
a database program written in MS Access. It seems that only one person
at a time can open the database. I get an error of "File is already in
use" .
What are the optimal settings for accessing MS Access in a multi-user
application?

Cacheing Problem
I am trying to get two WFW PC's talking to via Linux/Samba server Interface.
One PC continuously streams binary datafile onto its directory on the server
while the other continuously reads it. Information on the size of this file
(which can continuously increase up to 3MB) is continuously updated and is
stored using a fixed width pointer in the file header.
It appears that the second PC

TRANS.TBL files on Win95 fileserver
I have a small LAN in my basement, with my PC running RH5 Linux and a Win95 PC
connected by Samba. Everything works fine, but when I smbmount a CD (burned
with xcdroast) from the Linux box (CD is in the Win95 machine) I do not get the
proper filenames. All files are uppercase, and the TRANS.TBL files appear to be
ignored. I have tried playing with name mangling, but it didn't help. Is this a

The software we need runs in win9x.
We crave stability. But Linux+Samba is just much slower as a file
server.
It's normally quite fast: are you running over a
dial-up network, requiring you to adust MTU's for
speed???
If not, try ``socket

Printer queue problem (LPRng 3.4.2, Samba 1.9.18p4, Solaris 2.5.1/2.6)
I've been having a problem with Win95 clients watching a printer queue on
the Samba server (called labserv2). labserv2 is a Solaris 2.5.1 machine
running samba 1.9.18p4. The printing system is LPRng 3.4.2.
A user can watch the printer queue from a Win95 client machine. However,
when the printer queue gets backed up (usually about 12 jobs), the queue
window locks. The corresponding smbd
