Problem with public shares
Hello! I'm running Samba 3.0.0 with Openldap 2.1.22. Samba is my PDC and I'm using ldapsam as backend. Nearly everythings works, but I have a public share [tmp] which should be accessible without authentication from all clients even if they are no domain members. I think, my share definition is o.k. in smb.conf but if I click on the Samba server symbol on a client (Microsoft Windows

SLES kernel update
Hello CFS, I was wondering if the new SLES10 kernel will be part of the 1.6.4 release. It appears to be tracked by: https://bugzilla.lustre.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13874 As this contains a major security fix (privilege escalation), it is a mandatory upgrade in many places and it would be nice to not have to roll our own kernel. Thanks, Kit

Can anybody from our experts help please? I had some trouble with joining a Win2003SP1 (SFU Schema is also installed) domain in ADS mode - config files and error logs are listed at the end. the goal is: -joining a Win2003SP1 domain (with SFU Schema) in ADS-mode -authenticate with winbind / PADL against this ads-dc (also offline for notebooks with padl cache plugin) It would be great, if

optim: why is REPORT not used in SANN?
Hello, I wonder why the control parameter REPORT is not supported by method SANN. Looking into optim.c I found an internal constant: #define STEPS 100 ... and decreasing this to 10 helped me fine-tuning the annealing parameters in an actual problem. Is there any reason why not passing nREPORT to samin and setting something like: STEPS = nREPORT / tmax Thomas P. -- Thomas Petzoldt

Arguments become nonnumeric
Dear Everybody, Enclosed are the tiny beginning of a program and its output. As a pity, if I load the image <load("kanal.RData")> the elements of <de.dd> are non numerical; <de.dd[2]+de.dd[3]> returns <Fehler in de.dd[2] + de.dd[3] : nicht-numerisches Argument f??r bin??ren Operator>. How can I keep the numbers numerical? Thank you in advance. hopefully, Mag.

The output from SPSS looks like this: TaskSw * CongNow * CongBefore: SS df Mean Square F Sig. 1 vs. 2 1 vs. 2 1 vs. 2

How index works!
Hi, i''ve a project in wich i have 2 different rails apps accessing the same DB. The backoffice, as usual, changes data. The frontoffice has a search capabilities with acts_as_ferret (paginated) for search. Maybe this is a newbie question but, when i delete index and restart front app all the articles are indexed, but the new one''s (via backoffice) are not searchable. Does

Many index files
I''m using acts_as_ferret and have indexed a model with acts_as_ferret :fields => [:name, :ascii_name, :alt_names], :single_index => true. Now in the index directory more than 95.000 files are generated! The number of tuples I''m indexing is approx. 86.000. I can''t remember this from earlier ferret/acts_as_ferret versions where I''ve indexed millions of

NFSv4 ACLs with rsync
Hi, I am looking for a method of syncing NFS directories (Netapp qtrees) that contains NFSv4 ACLs. We copy qtrees (millions of files, xx TB) from one qutree into another one. The only tool we currently use is (netapp internal) ndmpcopy, it preserves ACLs but is slow. Netapp "xcopy" tool is also not aware of NFSv4 ACLs. rsync that is aware of NFSV4 ACLs would be a smart solution for

[AAF] remote indexing via DRb with acts_as_ferret
Hi! Aaf trunk has undergone several major refactorings the last days, with the result that you can now transparently switch your app from local to remote indexing and back :-) If you plan to scale your app to more than one physical machine, or if you have problems with corrupted indexes and the like under high load, you really should give this a try. I wrote some documentation to get you

return ONLY total_hits without querying from real database
Hey guys, I know I can run search(q).total_hits, but if I try to put :limit=>0 it gives me an error. I don''t want it actually query any of the results, I just want it to tell me how many total_hits I would have if I wanted to search it. How can I do this? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Linux distribution with gcc 4.8 and AddressSanitizer ?
Dear R developers, I've got an information from Prof. Ripley regarding a bug found with AdressSanitizer in one of our packages. It is now fixed, thank you for this information. Now, I would like to run AddressSanitizer myself before submitting the patched package to CRAN. Is there a recommendation of a suitable Linux distribution with gcc 4.8, ideally an ISO image or (even better) a

supressing linefeed at end of file
Hello, I want to do simulations with an external simulation model. For this purpose I wrote a R-script which makes the pre- and post-processing of the data (generate scenarios, analyze results). The R-script writes the input file for the simulation with e.g. write(x, file="test.dat", ncolumns=10) The problem is, however, that this command (and even constructions with cat) will add a
