XL toolstack and drbd
Hej folks, I''m messing around with DRBD once again but with a new Xen 4.1.2 installation using the XL toolstack instead of the xend daemon. However, after getting my DRBD installed and a device operational, trying to create a domU using the drbd block device doesn''t want to work: xl create -c test.cfg Parsing config file test.cfg Unknown disk type: drbd My config has: disk

DRDB Oddness
Hi All, I''m successfully using drbd on xen dom0''s across a 2 machine cluster. However I have one domU that refuses to start on one of the machines, but starts find on the other. Config files for domU and drbd are identical. Not sure where to start looking to diagnose the problem x-host-3:/etc/xen # xm create n-monitor Using config file "/etc/xen/vm/n-monitor".

KVM raw on DRDB on LVM logical volume?
Hi, I'm trying to get KVM VMs set up right on top of DRBD, with a dedicated DRBD mirror instance on top of a dedicated pair of LVM LVs per VM - allowing, for instance, primary-secondary DRBD assignments at the same granularity as the VMs. In other words, I want to put VMs in raw format directly to the DRBD block device, just as they are commonly put to an LV block device, with the DRBD block

drdb fails under xen
Under xen, either stock xen-2.0.1+linux-2.6.9 or Fedora''s latest (2.6.10-1.1109_FC4), drdb (<http://www.drbd.org/>),as soon as I try to write to one of its devices, causes "Badness" in the kernel and, ultimately, a spontaneous reboot. Under non-xen 2.6.10-1.1109_FC4 and 2.6.9-1.678_FC3, drbd works fine. The error: Jan 25 21:01:23 turing kernel: Badness in blk_plug_devic...

unable to unmount drdb+ocfs2 with bind-mount active
Hi all, i?m not sure if my problem is realted to ocfs2 or to drbd, so i x-post this post to both lists. I?ve drbd-volume [v 8.3.9] (dual-primary) with ocfs2 [v 1.6.3] as a filesystem. If I add a "bind-mount" like /var/log/ispconfig/httpd/blog.schaal-24.de /srv/www/clients/client2/web323/log none bind,nobootwait 0 0 to /etc/fstab i`m unable to run umount /srv/www (which is

Building two redundant servers without clustering
...;m quite thankfull for that for that it was a bit slow anyway ;-) My idea is to set up two relativley samba-hosts instead of byuing one "real" server with many build in redundancies. That can only work if I can manage to keep both filesystems in sync and I see two alternatives: 1.: Use drdb to build a RAID1 across the two host's filesystems. If one host fails, the RAID runs in degraded mode but it runs - or does it crawl anyway because drdb is slow? 2.: Use rsync. If I remember correctly, rsync was not supposed to run permanently as a daemon to keep two filesystems in sync(?)...

Bug#500047: xen-utils-3.0.3-1: domU reboot fails when using DRBD as vbd

Performance Problems while reading
Hi all We are using a 2 node cluster with drbd 8 (primary/primary state) and ocfs2. Reading a file on one node while it will be written on the other node is very slow. Reading a file on node while it will be written on the same node is fast. In the first case the node which wants to read the file has to ask the other to downgrade the locklevel. In my opinion this is a bottleneck, if the files are

Samba4: fileserver on a box other than a DC
Hi Our fileserver is currently on DC1 in a 2DC domain. We are running out of space on that box. Is there any possibility of being able to run smbd on another box (not necessarily a domain controller) by syncing the data over to it from DC1? We also run NFS on some of the same data. I can already see this turning into a naming, IP and Kerberos nightmare. What would be the provision

DRBD,GFS2 and GNBD without all clustered cman stuff
...arrive: 1) having two storage server replicating partition with DRBD 2) exporting via GNBD from the primary server the drbd with GFS2 3) inporting the GNBD on some nodes and mount it with GFS2 Assuming no logical error are done in the last points logic this is the situation: Server 1: LogVol09, DRDB configured as /dev/drbd0 replicated to Server 2. DRBD seems to work perfect as cat /proc/drbd Server 2: LogVol09, Secondary for /dev/drbd, cat /proc/drbd is ok What i thought to do was to export via GNBD the /dev/drbd0 to import it on a couple of nodes. Using GFS2 as FS for concurrent usage. I go...

Bug#500047: xen-utils-3.0.3-1: domU reboot fails when using DRBD as vbd
...ebooting from inside domU hangs in initrd: > > Begin: Waiting for root file system... ... > > Root file system is not available because underlying DRBD device > got deactivated during reboot: Sorry this bug seems to have fallen through the cracks. I've heard of people using drdb fairly recently so I think there is a g ood chance that this issue has been fixed in either recent Xen or DRDB packages (I'm not sure where block-drdb comes from these days). Please can you confirm whether or not you are still seeing this issue, thanks. Ian.

Live migration with 2 nodes and no SAN
I'd like to begin using live migrations with my KVM install, but I do not have any shared storage. I will have 2 identical nodes, with their own local storage. Everything I've read seems to point to DRDB, but I am not finding many resources on how to implement DRDB + qcow2 + KVM. Currently I've been using virt-manager to manage my VMs which are all using qcow2 images. With a setup using DRDB, if I mount the replicated device to /var/lib/libvirt/images, what ensures that each virtual disk is o...

xl - no support for DRBD disks?
I tried to create a domain with drbd based disk as the backend "drbd:<resourcename>,..," and I get a "unknown disk type" error. I can spin out a patch if needed, but just wanted to know apriori if this was left out for any specific reason. shriram _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com

two dovecot server using the same file system
Hi all. I want to use two servers with dovecot using a common file system with drbd. So I have several questions. If one server write a mail to th file system he will use his name as part of the mail identification. the second server will use his own name. Each server will generate it own mail numbers . When an imap or pop user will consult the mails i shoul be confusion. Am I correct. is there

Recover botched drdb gfs2 setup .
Hi. The short story... Rush job, never done clustered file systems before, vlan didn't support multicast. Thus I ended up with drbd working ok between the two servers but cman / gfs2 not working, resulting in what was meant to be a drbd primary/primary cluster being a primary/secondary cluster until the vlan could be fixed with gfs only mounted on the one server. I got the single server

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage

Gluster has it's own quorum, you can disable it but that's just a recipe for a disaster. > Also, on a two-node setup it is *guaranteed* for updates to one node to > put offline the whole volume? DRBD Problem
Hi all, I've been wrestling with a problem with drdb and centos. I have successfully created one drbd resource, but when I try the create a 2nd, I get an error on one of the nodes: Lower device is already mounted. Dovecot HA/Resilience
...h the same client accessing it from both servers), but the storage will then be a single point of failure. You may have both server have their own storage and sync it using dovecot replicator (I have never tried, so I can?t say for sure), or have an other layer taking care of the storage sync (like DRDB). While drdb is fine to sync dovecot storage, it may not be enough if you really want HA and have other services (postfix, rspamd, ?) running on that server, as you may need to also have the postfix queues (or other data) sync on both servers. > Le 10 janv. 2020 ? 21:12, Adrian Minta <adr...

2-node samba, ctdb and ocfs2 without drdb. Both nodes live. Is there a step by step anywhere? For someone who can run a production domain? Their level? Cheers, Steve
