A simple "Nice work"
...short: very nice work! I've started playing with flac and been quite pleased with it. I just rebuilt flac with '-O3 -march=i686', as I have an old PentiumPro box, and Pro specific optimizations are sometimes significant. After the build, I did a 'make check', being somewhat doubtfull that an opensource project would do much in that regard. Instead, I saw what seemed to be a comprehensive regression suite running. As a SW developer (and very minor hacker) I am impressed with the discipline and dedication this implies on the part of the flac developers. Thanks. Eric

Bristuff e RealTime: STABLE vs. CVS-HEAD
Hi all! Was anybody able to install kapejod's zaphfc drivers together with RealTime application? I'm in big trouble because bristuff relay on STABLE version, while RealTime is included in the CVS-HEAD. I found this hint, "Installing zaphfc with CVS-Head" at http://voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+zaphfc+install, but it was written many months ago: may it be still useful? TIA, Alex

comparing glm models - lower AIC but insignificant coefficients
Hello, I am a new R user and I am trying to estimate some generalized linear models (glm). I am trying to compare a model with a gaussian distribution and an identity link function, and a poisson model with a log link function. My problem is that while the gaussian model has significantly lower (i.e. "better") AIC (Akaike Information Criterion) most of the coefficients are not

TMG -- MS Visual Foxpro errors
I'd like very much to be able to run "The Master Genealogist" under Wine. TMG is a MS Visual Foxpro application for genealogy database work. On my Kubuntu 6.10 system I have successfully downloaded and installed Wine 0.9.30, and then installed TMG ver. 6 including updates to 6.12, the current version. During TMG installation, there was a problem with a lack of

Load balancing email?
Currently, we have two mail relays for inbound messages, and a third for POP. The inbound messages go thru all the CPU-intensive anti-spam stuff, and then they relay it to the POP server for pickup. Currently, one of these is the "primary", and the other is "secondary", and I'd like them to be considered more or less as equals, since the "primary" system is
