smbclient null-password behavior differs between 3.0 and 2.2.8a

not the issue. The FAQ recommends "smbclient -L host -U%", but I
don't want to set the username to null. I want a non-null username
with a null password.
I traced the packets on the two smbclients, and I see several
differences. The command I ran was:
smbclient //g4-box-1/dood -I 192.168.5.90 -U dood
I used the same command on both 2.2.8a and 3.0 systems. Here are the
differences I saw in the packets:
1. client sends "Extended Security Negotiation: Extended security
negotiation is supported" on 3.0, but not on 2.2.8a
2. 2.2.8a client sends ANSI Passw...

using var from bash in R script
Dear R users,
This probably a really noob question, but I'm stuck. I'd like to pass some
variables from bash to R as strings. I can successfully pass variables using
commandArgs(), the problem is that I end up with an array. So, for example:
> Args <- commandArgs(TRUE)
> Args
[1] "one" "two" "three"
Now, it just so happens that "one",

DDoS attacks, what can be done?
Hi,
I run two live c-class subnets on the internet. Last
Sunday morning I was hit with a DDoS attack and it
hasn''t stopped.
I made modifications on my shorewall firewall during
Sunday to lesson the impact, as they were hammering me
with 180k/5sec traffic both ways (inbound and
outbound).
One of the primary things which helped reduce their
DDoS was enabling "norfc1918" on the

btrfs and git-reflog

and on btrfs, it gets stuck in some sort of loop that causes it to
allocate more and more memory until I kill it or it pushes the
machine into OOM.
Kernel is 2.6.24 or so on x86-64.

Predicting New Data -
I am having trouble predicting new data with a model created from package
mboost:
> mb1<-glmboost(as.formula(formula1),data=data_train,control=boost_control(mstop=400,nu=.1))
